Cecil never intended to receive money for cam's services. He wanted to expose the corruption at MSU by acting like he was asking for money, then see if MSU would pay, then turn them in. Cam was going to Awbarn all along. Cecil was just doing his civic duty. The NCAA should give him a metal or something.
I see. So I can go pick up a (however-much-they-cost) hooker and expose prostitution for the social evil that it is. Then when she pays me I call the police and turn HER in for solicitation. I'm pure as snow, just gotta check this out and do my civic duty.

(There's a Jimmy Swaggart joke in there somewhere. Yeah, I got it. When Jimmy and his lady of the night were shacked up, the Lord spoke to him. "Jimmy what are you doing in there?" Jimmy: "We're NOT smoking, Lord." God: "OK").

I got a hunch my name would be on the news and it would be "mud."

Wow Brother Cecil sure has upstanding credibility in my eyes. First it was all bunk to bring his son down, then he supposedly didnt know his "son" cheated at UF, then swore up and down they didnt solicit money. I thought preachers were supposed to be men of God?

Didnt he also say he didnt know Rogers at first but yet introduced him in Starkvegas? Definitely not a man I would want leading my church. I guess Jesse was his idol....
Don't be fooled by "I thought preachers were supposed to be men of God?" The Bible clearly speaks about "false prophets" in many places. In the last days, a false prophet will rise with the antichrist. So, there are good and there are false in "religions." There are many on TV now. KNOW whom you are listening too on Sunday and what he is SAYING and check it out in the Book yourself.

If he's found guilty/ineligible, I think it would really fun to chant "Reggie, Reggie" when we play them.:BigA:

Amen Brother! You speak the truth my friend!

Well if it's true it doesn't matter who else knew or didn't know, if he brought up/implied his son's name, then according to NZAA rules his son is INELIGIBLE.

Also as of now no-one has actually put the spot-light on the barn, as of yet! Of course this is NZAA rules and NZAA people we are talking about! This will be something like the 'seven-year itch'!:conf2:

So it still has to be taken with a grain of salt and a whole lot of GOODY's HEADACHE POWDER'S!

Has anyone heard/read anything more about Mr. Newton's church? Like have they done any substantial repairs/upgrading to the facilities?

What we know about Cecil Newton and the Holy Zion Center of Deliverance | CollegeFootballTalk

Where did the Cecil Newton, Cam Newton's father get the money to fix his church? And who fixed his church? Cecil Newton kept getting extensions to bring his church, the Holy Zion Center of Deliverance up to code. Newton claimed the church would be brought to code “within six months” after being classified as a “new construction”. NBCSports.com asks this question, “Is there a link between Cecil’s recent ability to upgrade his church to the accusations that money was involved with Cam’s college selection?” For a church that had no money, how were they able to complete the renovations so quickly and under the radar? Also, even though this work on the church was a large undertaking, it was reported that an unnamed contractor did the necessary work to the church Pro Bono. Pro Bono, what? Construction Permits had to have been filed, there has to be a paper trail. NBCSports.com also mentioned that Cecil Newton may now own part of a construction company. Make your own determination at this point.

That to me is the most infuriating point, that the media won't even ask this question. Cecil admits shopping his son at MSU. He decides his son will go to the Barn. His cash-strapped and non-code compliant church somehow gets repaired. Where did the money come from to repair the church? I realize media companies don't want to get their rear ends sued for libel, but is it libel to ask a dadgum question?

I know we're approaching a moratorium on Fig Newton threads so if you want to combine this one with another thread, please be my guest..

CECIL NEWTON ADMITS TO MONEY TALKS...

Exclusive: Cam Newton's Dad Admits Money Talks, Says Source - Sports News Story - WSB Atlanta

Now this article is coming out of Georgia. Wonder if it's a concerted effort to affect today's game, or it's legit.. I think it's legit. With the FBI now being involved, I don't think Cecil wants to buck the Feds and get himself into more trouble than he's already in. This is why I think he's coming clean...

Maybe Cam didn't know, but it sure sounds like daddy knows a lot. How else do you explain Cam saying I wanted to go to MS. State, but I left it up to my dad and he said Auburn was the best place. His church didn't get fixed by itself. Daddy probably said, play real good this year Cam so you can get drafted, because there won't be a second year.

The broadcasters made a really great point. If you were Cam/his dad and it wasn't true, you'd be on every platform screaming your innocence. There really isn't an excuse for a "delayed" anything regarding this situation. Something will happen to confirm suspicions positive or negative during the bye week. If he's allowed to play the entire season, win the awards, etc.. it'll hurt him more than anyone in the long run. Where there's smoke there's fire and I can't imagine anyone can deny it.

I find it extremely difficult to imagine his father never saying "Listen, your going to hear some stuff.." Really? At no point ever did Cam realize his dad was involved in shady activity? I understand the NCAA protocol and everything but, the seat is getting hotter everyday. Auburn will play him without question, I can't believe people thought he'd sit. The commish said it was Auburn's choice, you think they would sit him and then basically admit their gulity? Not a chance, I think every other school (including us) would do the exact same thing. The entire situation is a joke, the way it's been handled is an embarrassment to football and sports. This type of stuff makes my cheeks burn for being a college football fan and after everything I'm not surprised at all.

I've been saying this since it started. Daddy acts like a guilty man and he's playing the guilty mans game right now by circling the wagons.

Really?

Don't worry, Cecil. A year from now no one will care, your son will be a millionaire and probably dating one of Kim Kardashian's friends. Even though your reputation will be destroyed, it will still be worth it, right?

Cecil being a man of God - I could not believe it when he admitted asking for money, and then stated no money ever changed hands. He said his wife nor Cam knew anything. Yeah Sure thing. It will be interested to see how the FBI and Nzaa handle this.

#1. The church never had the money to get within code per Cecil Newton. Now somehow out of the blue a rogue contractor without permits somehow has the church within code. The Contractor did this Pro Bono?

#2. Cecil Newton claims his wife and son Cam did not know about this. Cam was with his Dad at Miss St. on two visits according to Cam himself. Hummmm.

#3. The Barn states they are Clueless of the situation in the whole Cam Newton matter.

Aubarn had rather claim they had a MNC if they actually win one and with the other 1/2 one they have and this one probally stipped from them they could claim a whole one.

Dont kid yourself its not about Fig winning the Heisman. Its about Aubarn keeping up with Alabama. The school, board, fans are all so consumed with it . I think it will take the NCAA telling the not to. They had rather suffer the shame of having it stripped than never winning it.

Thats the big difference in the Fan base and the administration at Aubarn. I will admit I am hope his dad did take the money and he has to sit out the rest of the season and they forfeit all the games. I dodnt have one problem letting you know I despise them and the dealth penalty would be a sweet thing to see.

If I am Aubarn I request Papa Fig , Mamma Fig and CamFig take a polygraph test this week and publish the results. If I were his dad and innocent . I would have it done tomorrow and video taped and released to the news media. He wont even take questions or interviews neither will CamShaft.

Maybe Pat Dye could come back as a coach while they are on probation.

I guess it just amazes me that he admits it and somehow Cam is still out on the field playing today. Allegedly we have tapes out there with evidence of the scheme and I'm sure that had much to do with Cecil Newton admitting it. It was desperation time so he had to fall on the sword and try to put everything on him. But doesn't the NCAA rules state that if close family member even solicits money the player is ineligible?

You would think the NCAA would be all over this to try and stop another sham of a season like 2004. Where the Heisman and National Title trophy end up getting ripped from the winner some years later. Is AU really desperate enough to play with fire? I suppose so after seeing him walk out on the field because I don't really think the NCAA is done investigating this. Just sad to see a tainted title and an SEC title game that will feature two teams in the NCAA cross hairs.

I have a feeling it's going to be an interesting two weeks.

Stay tuned...

Yeah it could have been one of those things where the NCAA didn't quite have the info gathered in time to shut him down. Sounds like they are interviewing Kenny Rogers next week and that may give them more time to process everything. Dennis Dodd article sounded pretty negative for AU at least from what he was saying. Kinda makes you wonder if they didn't just play him today to at least clinch the West. I know it is easy for some to dismiss AU right away without Cam but they will still be tough either way. They didn't have him last year and played us to the wire. I guess we'll see, now it is our turn to be involved in the media fiasco leading up to the game. Should be fun.....
