Feel free to merge with the other Prediction threads I have seen on the board but none that I saw dealt beyond the SEC.

I just watched ESPN's Bold Predictions for College Football video and I was interested in seeing what everyone's predictions would be for the rest of the college football world, outside of the SEC. I'll start with...

1. Boise State loses to Va Tech but runs the Mountain West conference and gets a BCS bowl invitation.

2. Ohio State beats Penn State and wins the Big 10 (not really that bold honestly).

3. USC comes in second in the PAC 10 under Kiffin and plays in a respectable bowl game.

4. Stanford wins the PAC 10.

5. Texas does not win the Big 12 this year and has 2 losses, maybe 3.

If your BSU-loses-to-VaTech prediction could come true, I'd gladly punt on the others. I see VaTech as the only real obstacle to BSU appearing in the NC game. And yes, if BSU runs the table, I think the pollsters put 'em in the NC game. Pollsters will figure that's a small price to pay to keep Hatch and Congress out of college football. 'Course, if BSU takes one of the NC slots, the odds get tougher for a one-loss SEC team to make it to the game.

I do not think Boise State makes a BCS game if they lose to Virginia Tech. Particularly if they lose badly, and even if they do run the table thereafter.
Don't forget the scenario that has Boise beating VT but losing to Oregon State. That is quite possible as Oregon State should have a solid team this year. VT ought to be good on offense but might be down on defense.

I'm by no means predicting this.
But, I wouldn't be absolutely shocked if Georgia wins the East. Consider the following.

1. Georgia will have one of the best OLs in the SEC. They have perhaps the best WR in the SEC. They have one of the better RBs in the SEC. This will dramatically help a talented QB get acclimated to the SEC.

2. Their defense is talented, but has been poorly coached (to say the least). Enter Todd Grantham. Now, they have a legit DC. Check out Willie Martinez's decline...

2001: 18.9 PPG (17th in NCAA)
2002: 15.1 PPG (4th in NCAA)
2003: 14.5 PPG (3rd in NCAA)
2004: 16.5 PPG (9th in NCAA)
Enter Martinez
2005: 16.4 PPG (8th in NCAA)
2006: 17.6 PPG (20th in NCAA)
2007: 20.2 PPG (18th in NCAA)
2008: 24.54 PPG (59th in NCAA)
2009: 26.4 PPG (70th in NCAA)

3. Georgia does best with low expectations, and does the worst with high expectations. Low expectations for 2010.

4. Their West opponents are Mississippi State, Arkansas, and Auburn. You can't get a much better draw. Florida's West opponents are Alabama, LSU, and Mississippi State.

5. If they can beat Florida, then they would have to lose two games to the following teams: Arkansas, Mississippi State, Auburn, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, and Kentucky. They could lose two of them. What this says to me, though, is they have to get by Florida, which is the big question mark. But, this is the season to do that. Plus, even if Florida wins, they could easily fall to both Alabama and LSU.

Again, I'm not predicting this. Just that I think there's a better likelihood than many are giving credit for.

1. A one-loss Bama team repeats as national champions, solidly beating OSU, though it isn't really a blowout.

Some good points Danish, UGA could be the surprise team in the SEC this year, it could get down to the Florida game and Brantley is certainly more talented and experienced than who ever is left at UGA. The "Cocktail Party" could very likely decide the East.
