Okay, Israel has its fingers in a lot of American pies, that's true, but how do they benefit from a divided U.S. that's seemingly on the brink of civil war?
I think in days gone by, both Democrats and Republicans were accepting money from pro-Israeli lobbies. I think that is less true today than it was 40 years ago when I was in grad school. See The Lobby by Edward Tivnan (about AIPAC in American politics)
Part of that is the collapse of the Left in Israel. Israelis today are generally pro-Bibi Right of Center and anti-Bibi right of center.
US Democrats are a little wary of reaching out to right wing Israelis. (Although American Jews do traditionally skew pretty heavily Left, so they are inclined to the Democratic Party in the US.)
