Christiansen or Saxby????

I though the same thing, but Christiansen didn't even look impressive with his kick-offs this week. Give Saxby a shot. He earned it in week one...

IMO Christiansen should be handling the kickoffs and Saxby the field goals.
Exactly the way I see it. Only time Christiansen should try a FG is if it is over 50 yards. He has a great leg.

Was actually surprised Saxby wasn't inserted in game for FG work after the way JC was kicking. Maybe giving him an equal full game opportunity as RS was given and then evaluating to determine plan?? If my memory is correct, seems like RS was getting the ball off the ground very well in week 1, especially compared to JC this week.

Saxby. Call me old-fashioned, but I don't want PATs to be adventures, just give kicks right between the uprights with monotonous regularity. If Saxby can't do it, scour the soccer fields til we find one.

I think it should be Saxby from inside the 40's and

Christiansen outside of the 40's. On kick-offs, let Christiansen handle them but stop telling him to kick them high! Just kick them deep!

As for punting, I believe that Aul is the longer punter and although he had a bad week, he's still going to be better overall. Schatz just doesn't have the leg! His best kick is going to be 40 yards, but hit first kick Saturday was 29 yards...no better than Aul. He just needs to keep his drops consistent and not worry about the rush, which seemed to bother him.

Aul had kicks of 24 and 30 yards his longest was 33....

My initial thought was in step with most others' opinions: Christiansen to handle kickoffs and long field goals, and Saxby for the shorter field goals. Then I had a thought: Saxby did well with the kickoffs off against MTSU, kicking it deep - if Christiansen's leg is only a tad bit stronger, perhaps Saxby should handle kickoffs and field goals, since his accuracy is better. The kickoffs will get him into the game and keep him stretched out and warmed up, and he'll be better prepared to kick long field goals should the situation arise. If his accuracy is better than Christiansen's, and as long as he kicks the ball deep two out of three times on kickoffs, let Saxby be the man till he shows he can't. I just like the idea of one kicker handling the kicking duties...

Split it up

Some of you are might quick to ditch Christiansen on the Kickoffs.... Last year he was the hero... and the first couple of kicks went into the end zone.. His first extra point looked good... high and straight.... I think he got to thinking about the knuckle balls.

But I did think Saxby looked more consistent on the extra points and FGs.... He is also a senior... I would split so that next year we will have some experience

Saxby for all kicks. Saxby's kickoffs against MTSU looked better and more consistent than Christensen. Remember, last year Christensen boomed some out of the back of the end zone, out of bounds, and to the 15...often in the same game. While Christensen may have a slightly stronger leg than Saxby, Saxby too had a touchback against MTSU. Therefore, I believe Saxby can do the job on kickoffs, short to long FG's, and PAT's. Your starting kicker HAS to make PAT's...Christensen missed.

As for the punting situation, I don't see much of a difference between Aul and Schatz in terms of outcome. Aul probably has a stronger leg...but we don't get to see it because he continues to shank punts. Schatz seems to have a weak leg but better form. Regardless, both punters are prone to the 30 yard punt...which is unacceptable. I don't see the punting game improving this season. It will cost us. Be prepared...

Looks as though Christiansen will be our kicker fgs/kickoffs and Schatz is our Punter this weekend for the SC game, let's hope for the best.

I don't care who can kick it further, you cannot miss extra points. That will and has lost games for us. Saxby put it in the middle, so I say go with him. If the balls out of his range, either go for it or punt(since our punters cannot kick further than 40yards to begin with).
