Tim Brando will be shocked to learn that, according to this WSJ article today (the link allows gifted access to non-subscribers) Penn State did have a plan; it was BYU's Sitaki; but it crumbled because of efforts from a BYU alum/cookie magnate. So, you might say PSU's plan was only half-baked...

My only nit to pick with WSJ is that I don't consider PSU a blue blood...
