Next month, government officials, policymakers, and activists will flock to Belém, Brazil, for the United Nations' annual climate change summit. In the past, these conferences have focused on wealth distribution schemes and transitioning from fossil fuels. At this year's conference, Bill Gates is advocating for a different strategy: shifting the primary focus away from climate change altogether.

Well, this is an about-face I didn't see coming.

Yep. If I didn't know any better, I'd think Gates is just now realizing how much the energy needs are going to be to keep Microsoft's AI data centers going. But I'm probably just being paranoid.

I think that's correct. One looked like it was heading into Hatteras but took a NE bend and brushed with nothing but high tides as an effect...

This country badly needed a break from hurricane landfalls after the awful year before.

The Chattahoochee River is really low right now. There are parts where you can almost cross one side too the other on rocks and not get wet. It is sad really. We desperately need some rain.
