My family and I are flyinng into Birmingham and I wanted to pay my respests to Coach Bryant. I have directions to the cemetry and was wondering how do I loacate Coach Bryants final resting site.

Thanks and RTR.

If I'm not mistaken, the grave site has a path that leads to it. Its marked with crimson and is pretty noticable. There are also many "offerings" left behind at the gravesite, as people pay their respects quite often. I believe its enough to lead the keepers of the cemetary to collect the pieces and store them away. So, someone should be on site to help you further.

Yeah, you'll need to go to the cemetary office and ask them how to get to his gravesite. I went a few months ago to try and find his grave and the crimson line leading to his gravesite has faded away over the years. I ended up lost in the old section of Elmwood cemetary. It was really a very creepy feeling that I don't wish to ever experience again.

This is a bit off topic, but that old section of Elmwood is really creepy. My entire family on my mother's side is buried at Elmwood, and I have been to the newer sections on countless occasions, but that was the first time I had been to the old section and it felt like something was telling me to leave urgently....

If you want to place something to pay your respects, leave a coke. I did that many years ago.:)

Figured I'd chime in on this one. As said before, the red line that leads to the site is very faded and hard to follow at times and the monument itself is very small and unnoticeable if you aren't sure where to look. It is right off the road though. There may be things left behind like shakers or other items to look for. I've been times that there have been many items around the site and other times I guess the staff cleaned it all up... Good luck finding it!

I have never been to Coach Bryant's gravesite. Where is the cemetary located? Is it that cemetary where 20 and 59 meet? I would like to pay my respects the next time we come down.

Elmwood is located on Martin Luther King Drive on the western side of B'ham. If you come down I-65 from Huntsville, take the 6th ave south exit just past the I-59/I-65 junction. You will have to bear right as you exit the interstate and stay straight on 6th ave. After a couple of miles you will come to the intersection of 6th and MLK drive, which is where the cemetery entrance is.

Ask a cemetery employee how to get to his gravesite because the crimson line leading to his grave has faded.
