Coach Nick Saban press conference

I just love it that it is plain and obvious that Coach Saban is taking this job as seriously as he has taken every other previous job. I'm not saying that I didn't think that he would, but I just wasn't sure since his hiring was, in a sense, very sudden and involved weird circumstances. My brother keeps jawing away about Coach Carroll and USC blah blah blah (I know I do it sometimes on here) and he comes off sounding like Saban could not get the job done. Saban will get the job done and I hope he will be here for a very long time.

Offer your brother a Big Cup of Shut Up. My family knows me all to well. My barn relatives drink alot of Shut Up especially now. :BigA:

Things I learned:

-When Saban gives out actual information, he does it very straight to the point. I love that.

-His favorite word is "relative". I've never heard of any dude use a word like relative so many times in one sitting.

-Saban really really really hates press conferences, primarily because some reporters just don't learn about certain things that coaches don't want to do, i.e., Saban is not doing evaluations until he is able to see the players actually play on the practice field. Yet a couple of these reporters keep asking evaluation-type questions. Another example of Saban hating press conferences is when he jokes around with them but pointedly at them. I love that and he will be great when he continues to give the paparazzi whatever they're grasping for.

Someone needs to tell him, point blank, to cut down on "aight" and "relative."

I nominate Irishman. I know he's capable. He has the attitude to have a chance of pulling it off--the 'take no prisoners' mentality. But, aight, if he can't do it maybe Tommy Mac could try. No one can say "no" to Tommy Mac. Well no one of any consequence to the world relative to Tommy Mac, that is.

Obviously the rest of us will be hiding behind the dusty boulder watching. :D

Mkay? :D

 That PC is a great source for entertainment . Coach sure spanked a few tails .
Some of these reporters will need to learn to stop and think before trying to go for their next sound-bite .

Yes I agree that Coach Saban has earned the title Coach. Those two sports drips are not on Coach Saban's list of professionals to talk to. He has more important things to do and has placed them on the Clowns to Ignore List. :biggrin2:

Amen to that, brother. Coach Saban will (hopefully) make extracting information very painful for these two.

On the same note, I love it when telemarketers call my house and ask for my wife by her first name. A buddy at work told me how to handle 'em, and it works really well.

'Hey, man, is Janet there?'

"Sure, who's calling?"

'I'm so n so from such n such and I was wondering if...'

"And just how do you know my wife that you call her by her first name?"

'Well, I don't actually know her, but I'm so and so from ...'

"Don't you think that's a little familiar on your part? I know she's been seeing somebody on the side, is it you?"

'No sir, I'm just trying to introduce her to such and such...'

"Do you expect me to buy that? Salespeople don't get that familiar with strangers. Who is this really?!! You just wait until I get my hands on you..."

They hang up on me 9 out of 10 times. It's a great game to play when football isn't on. And your calls from that particular agency stop abruptly, too.

Roll Tide!:BigA: :BigA: :BigA:

CNS presser

Very impressed with how he conducts himself and proud that he represents bama and the state. Since I have been a working adult I have never seen what good management looks like. He has a plan and people buy into. It maybe hard to work for him but you would know that it will be a positive and productive result.

Roll Tide!!!!!

Actually Coach likes to compare things using the words "relative to...". I too got a bit tired of it, and I have no problem with a'ight at all. Both beat the crap out of ummm and "so-to-speak". Shula used "so-to-speak" way to often and sometimes not even in the correct context. At least Saban used the term "relative to" in the correct context and never once said ummm!

Also, Saban can obviously handle himself and shut guys down at any moment. I like that. He didn't even answer one idiot...he just let the idiot walk all over his tongue and then he moved on to the next idiot. How many times does the media think they have to ask him to evaluate something when he said no less than 10 that he would not give evaluations?

Saban is without question "THE MAN"!

Wow! I'm even more impressed with Coach Saban's knowledge than I am with his recruiting skills. He will run a well organized program. I like his emphasis on teaching rather than evaluating. He has his priorities straight. The mentality of the team is going to benefit greatly from these coaches. I am so fired up to see our team go into a game well-prepared to do their job. That doesn't mean we're going to win every game, but to be mentally and physically ready to compete and execute our gameplan. And, I don't think I'll have to worry about the halftime adjustments like I did under the previous staff. Damn! I can hardly wait for the season.:biggrin2:
