Coaching carousel 2025-26

Ok, so two years removed from not even calling Kiffin, and everyone ok with that. . suddenly , he is the favorite for the fanbase to take over if CkD leaves? Bama fans…Amirite?

Despite waves of nausea... I brought this up with my other Bama group yesterday. Lane offers pretty quick wins and you might be able to springboard a soft landing after he implodes in year 5.

I think we either let DeBoer build the program for 5 years or we end up wandering in the wilderness with a string of 3-4 year coaches who never really put the program on solid ground. I think that is why Nebraska gave Rhule a big contract. They know he is a solid coach who has resurrected two programs and they need to commit to a rebuild.

I don't think it matters if we get a good hire and the NIL is right for the players. Due to board policy I'm not even going to to touch upon his sideline interviews and his expressions on the sideline. The guy can coach, but I'm gonna need more than 9-3 and barely making the playoffs.
But who is available that would be a definite upgrade from DeBoer? I haven't seen anything from Lane Kiffin at Ole Miss to suggest he would be doing any better here than DeBoer. We actually finished ahead of Ole Miss last season, and we have one less loss this season, but a more impressive resume. I just dont see it. And then if Ole Miss loses the Egg Bowl (good chance they do), and Bama wins the Iron Bowl, Bama will likely finish ahead of them again. Apart from Cignetti, there isn't really anyone potentially gettable that I would consider to be a definite upgrade (not that Cignetti is either, but he's the only one who might) so that would be a huge gamble.

Maybe. Or maybe he's vying for more cash for himself, staff, etc.

In the NIL era, OM has the ability to be as big at Florida or anyone else - and OM has cash...
If he’s staying, why not announce it now?

Of course, it’s Kiffin. I wouldn’t surprise me if he’s orchestrating the whole thing to make it be some kind of huge splash for Ole Miss.

I agree with you, and that’s why I think his best move is to remain. He will end up fired from LSU. He will have a statue if he stays at Ole Miss.

Kiffin Field?

Welcome to your opinion; but I disagree.
It's basically his full time job; and he's a pretty smart guy. Whether you like him , or not.
Yeah, he's a smart guy, but there are plenty of examples of him making ridiculous statements in an attempt to either show how smart he is or to seemingly distance himself from Bama bias.

I ignore him now. His commentary is largely garbage.

When / if he actually breaks a real story I'll start to pay attention.

Otherwise he's just a guy who has chosen to place his career objectives above all else.
