Coaching carousel 2025-26

Your entire viewpoint is ignoring NIL.

In 2026, LSU isn't a better job than OM. Especially if OM wins a NC in 2025.

But keep holding on to historic norms. CFB has been ruined by the money, and that means things have changed.

I mentioned NIL. You're ignoring the fact of WHO made OM what it is in 2025.

LSU is a better job overall, and I really can't believe you guys are saying that to try to justify your opinion, and the reason nobody can answer my question: What could he have done differently?

Again, Saban and Carroll know it's the better job, even today.

But let's pretend LSU is not a better job, it really doesn't matter, how could Kiffin have handled it any better?

It was a no win for him because of his past sins. Plain and simple.

I'd argue that in 2025-2026 LSU might not be the better job it obviously was just a few years ago.

Time will well, but LSU isn't exactly riddled with cash...

The overall resources and committed fan base makes me still lean LSU is still a tier above ole Miss. but I will happily agree to disagree because you do have valid points.

For Lane Ole Miss is clearly a better job because they are a program far more willing to put up with his nonsense and pump enough money to fund his offense. There are lower expectations and less people pulling the strings. LSU will demand championship quickly. If he doesn’t provide it they will throw him in a swump.

And who built the current Ole Miss program?

Well Hugh built a version similar to Lane… what is the difference between Auburn and Ole Miss? Expectations and people outside the program wanting control.

Not much difference in those two programs overall. Some might say the barn is a slight step up. It's laughable to try to make an entire argument suggesting OM is on the same level with LSU.

The points being made are counterintuitive.

Kiffin has taken OM to heights never seen before. He is the one responsible for recent success, which has no bearing on the better program overall.

The ones saying that, can't answer my question of how Kiffin could have handled it any better.

So the conversation as been deflected. Saban obviously see's it as a no-brainer as do 99.9% of people who can get past the Kiffin hate and think clearly.

I just don't know why he would recommend LSU to Kiffin, but a few years ago be the absolute #1 reason Bama never considered Kiffin and many on here say will never.

That part absolutely makes no sense.

Lane is burning the bridge, but Ole Miss is thinking small and looking small time by handling it this way too. Let the guy coach, try to have as good a season as you can. Possibly the best season of your history, and keep some good will with your players, fans and appear as a confident program that supports it's coaches and look more desirable to a new coach.

It's already appearing to many that they clearly didn't choose to put up the money for players, which is dumb.

On the other hand. Lane has destroyed his rebuilt reputation with his pettiness. I also truly believe he could've messed up a good thing he currently has going in Ole Miss and he may not be able to get it going in LSU, as Brian Kelly couldn't after being a top 5 coach with better resume than lane Kiffin

I'm just more focused on Ole Miss, because I actually think they have more to lose. Lane already has what he wants.

After seeing that Ole Miss has made Pete their permanent head coach. I changed my stance. Ole Miss has done the right thing in terms of promote the current head coach in the college football playoffs and promote stability.

Ole miss will go back to their rightful place in the pecking order. Maybe sooner, maybe later. Golding will need to hire a competent OC for sure, and be able to recruit at a fraction of the level that Kiffin as been able to.

The point is that Ole Miss has never cared about football. They generally care about hardball and the grove. Aside from that a bowl game and beating State are as far as their expectations go.

Auburn and LSU have alot of powerful people with their hands in the football program, and Lane has a habit of making people he shouldn’t make angry absolutely hate him. At Ole Miss he really didn’t have to watch who he made angry aside from a select few. At LSU… as guys like Ogreron and Kelly found out, make the wrong one angry and they will revolt against you.

I’m not going to argue all night and all week about Kiffin with you. You clearly think he is a homerun hire, I remain unconvinced. Let’s leave at that and move on

Well I think it's a good hire, and he was my choice at Bama to replace Saban.

That's kind of beside the point. I mean it's nothing but a Kiffin bash thread but it's not based upon much substance. Nobody is saying HOW he could have handled it any better, just that he should have handled it better.

I do think it's absolute non-sense to suggest OM is the same as LSU from an overall program standpoint.

But yeah, whatever.
