Coaching carousel 2025-26

I dont understand why we dont involve some form of jujitsu training for our OL, DL, and WRs. The whole premise if it is to use leverage against your opponent and avoid grasps. Trained properly undersized individuals can overtake larger opponents.

How do we know DeBoer wont tweak his philosophy about running the ball after seeing how this season went? Any coach worth his salt rarely keeps the exact same system without making some adjustments to it as they learn and experience more.
For the record I'm not saying he won't. I've said the opposite in fact, I think they have a desire to be able to run the ball better, but it's tough doing that against SEC teams and that should precipitate a change. Milroe kind of gave the team a pseudo running game that masked the issue, but now it's much more pressing.

I was also adamant about that Sheridan wasn't the best fit for calling plays in his offense, and that he should go back to Grubb and that happened, so my assertions certainly isn't that I see something he doesn't. I did at the same time by the way explain the issues the system had running the ball though. My belief is that these changes are necessary to give Grubb a chance to succeed in the SEC as well.

Edit: I should also add that I at never point as far as I can recall, ever said DeBoer, Grubb, or Womack were stupid or bad coaches. I think they are good coaches, the concern always has been the learning curve in terms of adjusting to the SEC. I think they are at various points in the learning curve (Womack played and was a GA in the SEC) and no part of that insinuates they can't make necessary adjustments. I think this year is a great chance for that to occur with a lot of salary being freed up for the assistants.

Maybe Pittman isn’t the best fit for DeBoer’s scheme, but he’s a dang impressive offensive line coach that understands the SEC and I think would be a huge addition to this staff. He and Debore could figure out how to merge their philosophies
😎 He’s our coach…going to be here a while, may as well learn how to spell his name correctly…

I had missed Brian Hartline to South Florida. Saw it in the article about the 5 star WR, Sales.

Man, that is HUGE if for no other reason that maybe it cuts off TOSU pipeline for the best receivers in college football. They have had an unprecedented run on the best recievers for years now. Since the 4-horsemen years at Bama, nobody has done it better.

So that is big, big news!

Plus I think I saw the other day that Ryan Day will be calling plays now. When the head coach pulls double duty it may effect game planning.

From MGoBlog, This guy gets it, kudos to him👏

Deboer still seemed like a long shot even if they lost.

People don't wanna hear this but Alabama is absolutely a better job than Michigan and even if you wanna be delusional it was a lateral move. That's not what guys like Deboer do.

Michigan has resources and a big brand but we have not actually been an elite program on the field. In the modern era we are a 9-3 team that beats OSU 40% of the time and competes for national titles once a generation.

So no we are not the destination job we think we are. Would Harbaugh have really come if he was not an alum? But we are a really good job and if all we get is someone who can consistently recruit well and win 9-10 games and beat OSU half the time that is a massive coaching win over what we have been historically.

The 2021 - 2023 run was NOT the standard. It was an outlier. And to think that is who we are and should be is just delusional.

And as many have already said almost anyone else out there is gonna be an upgrade over Moore. So no, it doesn't look like we're gonna get our top 3-4 choices but Pete Carroll wasn't a high choice for USC either and that seemed to work out.

Thanks for sharing. A sane UM fan is hard to find. Kinda like a realistic barner!

I wonder about their recruiting class? I know it's not near as important as a few years ago. They'll likely just buy their next team on the NIL market, but the longer this goes the harder it'll be for them going into the spring, summer and fall.

In Pete Carroll's case, it was him who initiated conversations with USC when they were looking for a coach. He wasn't sough out for that job initially.

I had First Take on in the background. The panelists were Jeff Saturday, I believe Louis Riddick , and Mad Dog Russo. RUSSO raked Bama fans over the coals with his rant about how Bama fans treat Kalen DeBoer. Jeff Saturday piled on . And it struck me that we are judged by 15-20% of our fanbases actions. Painted with a broad brush with The lunatic fringe if you will. And that Idiot Finebaum fans the flames of discontent. Add to that, after the FSU loss, many of the national sports media were leading the charge to can CKD . It’s a little tiresome hearing this all the time.

On an unrelated note, Jeff Saturday’s daughter attends U of A, and Saturday attends Bama games IMG_1294.jpeg

I contend that 15-20% fringe are the ones saying "CKD is the next Mike Shula" or "Ray Perkins." Such an uninformed take on reality. They are probably much more "casual" and the only time they invest in Bama football is on Saturday during the football season. IOWs, they are the lifetime sidewalk fringe who think all of our coaches not named Bear or Saban should be fired. Thing is, if you asked them who the next Bear or Saban is they probably would say somebody like Jon Gruden.
