Coaching carousel 2025-26

Why Kapilovic hasn’t been fired yet is beyond me. We need to get rid of him and go after Sam Pittman. We need physicality and the ability to run the ball in the SEC. If CKD disagrees, he needs to get on down the road too. This year was sickening to watch our total ineptness in offensive line play and the running game.
If Coach DeBoer is just now evaluating replacements, he’s in over his head. He should have had an O line replacement picked 6 weeks ago. I hope he does and is just waiting to make the announcement.

I'm not trying to blame or absolve anyone, but I wonder how many times a game Ty audibles out of the original play into another based on his read? How many times has he audibled out of a running play?
Fair point and that may be part of it.
But the other thing we don't know is if he's checking off to a play he was instructed to check to if the D gives him certain looks which would be on the coaching.

Personally I think it's likely a combination.

Posts like this frustrates me at time. Guys... Give it time. I'm pretty sure there are meetings with each person on staff going on and I'm sure he's already on the phone working or already has someone in mind, but can't announce it because a team is in playoff or is on NFL team. just be patient guys. Black Monday firing in NFL is on Monday.

These guys won’t let him win. He shoulda been doing this, or that, no matter what these folks will not compliment him.
I get everyone's frustrations and all, but at this point, everyone is telling CKD what he should do..... it's not always a good look when we as a fan need to execise our patience and let him figure it out. He's a smart man. He obviously see the same issues we all are seeing. We just have to wait and see how he make the adjustments in the off season.

Kiffin also PO’d Shane Beamer in the way he handled the hiring of Sterling Lucas, South Carolina’s Defensive Line coach.

According to Beamer, the common courtesy in the coaching ranks is to let the head coach know you are interested in talking with an assistant or staff member. Primarily a formality.

Beamer says he got a phone call at 11 pm Thursday night December 18th from Lucas saying he was offered another job. At 9 am on the 19th, Lucas was gone. And he is yet to hear from Kiffin.

Kiffin hasn’t changed a lick. He can talk all wants about “having respect for” this person or that person. Kiffin is a narcissist. He cares only about himself. He will screw over Golding and the folks at Ole Miss while trying to prepare for the Semi finals and not think twice about it.
Lane Kiffin is Lane Kiffin’s biggest fan. My daughter, who’s a college freshman, shared the video posted from his daughter, walking in the house with a basket from a store that he supposedly took. My dad has been dead 20 years but if I’d done something that stupid, would have kicked my tail. He’s never going to change

A few and they seemed to work most of the time.

Defenses started taking some of that away though along with crossing routes.

Grubb never really made adjustments to what other teams were doing.
I begged for us to roll Ty out, thus changing the launch point, but getting him away from constant pressure. We did it once against IU for a completion.

I still blame that on the staff because Lane Kiffin showed how to combat defenses having the edge on changing plays. Ole Miss stayed in the huddle until 15 seconds on the play clock which the ear pieces of the defensive staff and the players helmet shuts off. It vastly limits how many times the defense can change the play or appear to change the play.
Ding! Ding! DING!!!

Go to the head of the class!

This is the first time I've seen anyone point-out this tactic. It was brilliant ... and I don't think I ever noticed it.

I’m no football expert by any means and I’m not defending Grubb but with all the O/line rotations used, lack of push, missed blocks, whiffed blocks, pulls without contact, etc kinda begs the question could the personnel execute the plan. Was much of the blame on Grubb and CKD or lack of the right tools in box? And our RB’s were really reluctant a lot to HIT THE HOLE and I’m pretty sure it was largely due to lack of confidence that the hole would develop or stay open. I’ve seen a lotta posts and comments about getting CKD’s players will make his offense better. Again, I’m no expert. It’s a real question on my part.

The priority for next year is to settle on 5 guys and rep the crap out them as a unit during the fall and then play them a ton as a 5 man unit. You need a swing guy for the interior and at tackle and a back up who can snap the ball if your primary guy can't. All of the random mixing up of the line hurts consistency severely.

I was told this by someone today who I have lot of respect for: He had to remind me that now is not the time to worry about whether CKD should be firing coaches by now. All of the coaches are working nonstop around the clock to try and recruit play to come for a visit. The staff are being ultra-aggressive reaching out to several players. Not only that, they have to try and keep the current players on the team. They already lost Noah Carter; however I heard something different... but anyway... That's a lot. Morgan, CKD, Grubb and others are busting their butts. IMO, you'll have better idea of where the staff stands with some of the players they're targeting in next few days. Bama is looking to lock in at least two players right now and potentially one more this weekend if all goes well. I expect to hear some news on more players setting up a visit to Bama by Monday.

Bama don't need best expensive players. they just need to get experienced player who know what to do and is coachable. Once everything settled down, CKD can turn his attention to the staff and make some adjustments.

My point: just be patient with the coaching changes news. Out of everything going on, there is one thing I would like to hear: 4th quarter program, spring and summer work out. I want to see some changes there.

Just stress physicality and win the battle on both sides of the ball. I want to see former players around in the off-season training with these guys. I'll say this though: West Alabama impressed me a lot. Scott brought in former players and man they had a good season. Alabama would be smart to hire some of these guys and bring them in. We already got Josh Chapman, Ha-ha... let's bring in Mark Ingram train those RBs...

Certain plays being called in certain situations (regardless of execution) didn't even make any type of football sense. For example, regardless of execution, when it is 2nd and 12 and your offensive line hasn't shown one ounce of life in run blocking all game and you call a run up the middle. Or, it is third and short and we're running sideline to sideline trick plays where the ball has to change hands two to three times before we even make a move toward the LOS. Those are stupid playcalls regardless of the execution.

The trick play while we we're up 17-0 in the Iron Bowl that killed all our momentum really soured me on him.

Fair point and that may be part of it.
But the other thing we don't know is if he's checking off to a play he was instructed to check to if the D gives him certain looks which would be on the coaching.

Personally I think it's likely a combination.
I would guess that given the fact that we didn't get many *** looks when he got back to the sideline from coaches or players, that he was audibling to what the staff wanted. I know KDB is a little less fiery on the sideline the CNS, but I have to think at some point he would have boiled over if he was checking incorrectly.

And going for it on 4th and what, 3-4 in our own territory, when there’s been ZERO momentum or evidence of a decent success percentage.
That, to me, was a sign of desperation and that’s solely on CKD and nothing but adding fuel to an already raging fire that was Indiana. That’s when our watch party kinda expressed the “oh well” attitude and were just along for the ride.
It was 4th and 1. I was OK with the decision but did not like the play call. I would have preferred 12 personnel with the best blocking TE on the left, then run Hill behind Proctor and Dewberry or run the UGA clincher again. I did like giving the ball to Bernard who came close in all of that traffic but one last IU defender nailed him right at the FD marker after he had navigated 3 defenders to almost make it.

I didn’t mind him going for it because he had quickly realized that Alabama needed every advantage possible to stay in the game. Ty had made another mistake in scrambling judgement by sliding rather than diving forward on third. He would have made it easily. But in the end it didn’t matter IMO, because IU was the far superior team. I like DeBoer’s playing to win attitude. That doesn’t mean that you always go for it, but IMO, this was a case that had a decent argument for doing so.
