How will this be legal? I mean first of all, comcast has the absolute worst customer service in all of the whole world. (You read that properly -all of the whole world). This merger would likely be larger than the breakup if the Bell System in 1982 that involved AT&T. I suppose antitrust laws will be broken if they continue with this merger.

Also general Comcast hate thread.

So I generally believe this to be a bad idea, but they currently don't have much overlap in service area. They are going to divest in areas they do have overlap and sell off those businesses.

We need more choices, not fewer because of mega-mergers. I had Comcast when I lived in Alabama and hated it. Have TWC now, and even though they're expensive as all get-out, their quality and customer service have been quite good. If the merger goes through, I'll switch to U-Verse. AT&T has crappy service, but it's better than Comcast.

I disagree with AT&T service sucking. I have Uverse here in STL, and I love it. Will never go back to Charter unless I have to.

Amongst my friends (and seemingly the TideFans community), I seem to be the lone individual who has received good service from Comcast. No major hiccups. When something does break, they are out quickly to fix.

That being said, I think this merger is a bad idea. Reducing the number of competitors in a marketplace is bad for consumers and bad for innovation.

Should have said crappy customer service. I know a lot of people with it and every one of them dread dealing with their customer service department.

I've had Comcast internet for ~10 yrs with no complaints. Is their customer service bad? I don't know - what's good customer service like? I don't have a good experience to compare with anymore so it's gotten hard to tell.
