It looks like we came out of the first game pretty healthy (unless there was some injuries I haven`t heard about). We seem to be in good physical shape this year compared to last year. To me this is a major plus for a good season this year. Staying healthy, I believe we can  some folks.

Yea I agree.Too many injuries last year along with the fact that they didn't look like they were in great shape contributed to a few defeats. This year the look lean and mean. I'm excited about the possibilities of this team and I'm confident in the teams direction.

To my untrained I, help me tell the difference (in the conditioning). How can you distinguish the difference? Help me out here.... What sticks out??

Everybody looks like they're well conditioned in the first game. We looked very well conditioned last year in our opener. Didn't we hold onto the ball like all but 3 minutes of the 2nd half? After our opener I thought we were in great shape. By the 5th or 6th game we started looking really worn out. I hope that doesn't happen this year.

It`s what`s not sticking out(like a case a day belly) that distinguishes the difference. To me they looked trimmed down and faster. They also weren`t walking around with their hands on there hips sucking wind.

Yes to me it also seemed like our conditioning was a little better, but only time will tell. At least with no OK looming in the future our injuries should fair better as the season progresses on. I figure by the 5 or 6 game we will be able to tell where we stand on conditioning. But the team did seem faster and look leaning. Just look at Utah St. at the start of the 3rd quarter you could tell they were wore out. Hands on hips, slowly getting on and off the field. Almost like they were hoping it would end sooner than it did.....RTR

My 3 cents worth....

You can usually tell when a player is out of shape when he's bending over holding his knees, sucking wind heavily and dragging up to the line of scrimmage. Last year in the 4th qtr. we had a lot of that. When you see a defense running step for step with the O in the 4th quarter, you know they're in condidion. Because our offense was able to move the ball and put points on the board, our D stayed off the field an appropriate length of time. Last year when we couldn't sustain drives, our D was right back on the field after 3 and out. We weren't in as good condition last year and so far, there seems to be a marked difference.
