Convince Me NOT to Get YouTube TV for Football

  • Hi Guest, we are working on updating the site servers and software. We're also 'forcing' everyone to read and agree to our site privacy policy and terms of service. There are no significant changes to either of these but the terms page does clarify a few things that are mostly in the legalese. You can just click the checkbox for both and continue using the site as usual! We'll update you more on the site upgrades VERY soon! THANK YOU AS ALWAYS for supporting the site and being an active participant!

I made the jump from Sling to YouTube TV and have been very happy. the ability to watch multiple games and watch ESPN from multiple TVs is a plus. Bonus: YT has CBS Sports channel and I can watch the CFL.

I also recall someone saying you can make your account inactive during the off season, but still retain your DVR library.
Yes, pause your subscription. I do every year about March and resume about now. They gave me 3 weeks free this year

I've tried YTTV, Direct TV stream, FuBu, Sling, Filo, Tubi, Milo, Silo, Hulu, Bulu, Trulu, whatever and keep coming back to YTTV.

FOXone , ESPN have a package for $40 that includes sports and news services. This happened around the same time the NFL exchanged their media rights outlets NFL network and NFL red zone for a 10% in ESPN.
I see other streaming services going to a similiar bundle model and streaming /cord cutting will become more expensive than cable With limited a la carte options

Unrelated, but related. In my pause of YTTV, I alternate streaming services HULU, Paramount, Apple, Netflix, etc . With the end of Yellowstone and other Taylor Sheridan shows slow to release new seasons, I’m finding little reason to pick up Paramount plus in its fall rotation( my normal renewal time) . Any sports on that service I may miss?

Create a new google account and subscribe around this time of year when they know most people are coming for football anyway. I got 3 months at $59.99 simply by creating a new account.

Gotta be creative with it sometimes

Aren't they partnering with Fox for this?
This was the plan, it was called Venu Sports, but the various other providers sued to stop it from being launched. So now Espn and Fox are going to offer their own packages. The way they are keeping all the providers happy is treating the new service just like they currently do with Watch Espn. So if you have say, youtube tv, you can use your login info to watch espn content on the espn app. The difference is not people who do not have youtube tv can subscribe just to the epsn content.

I have YTTV....and pay for ESPN+. Can I drop that subscription and use my YTTV login on ESPN streaming app?

I'm confused. Also, I am not technologically adept.

The last few years I've simply reactivated my ESPN streaming service the last week of August. Other than the games which were NOT on ESPN, I got to see most of Bama's games.

Am I to understand the "old way" will no longer work?

So ESPN+ is only good for the Alabama (or any powerhouse team) that plays their annual game with the "Sisters of the Poor?"
I think it is a max of one game per team that may be exclusively on espn+ and must be a non conference game.

I get youtube tv at the beginning of football season and cancel as soon as the football season is over. So, it's good for watching football, so I don't have a good argument for cancelling.
I just got it and it seems to be working fine.
Of course, I have yet to sit through a game day.
