Crime blotter

This is why I've procrastinated re-painting my front door since it was last painted in 2020.......

Meanwhile in Canada......sounds like the homeowner may be in legal trouble for trying to address the problem......

Now you know where the Castle Doctrine came from.

As an aside.....I wonder how the fishing line was configured......seemed to have worked pretty good!

These kids are lucky they don't get shot on this side of the border and it would be completely justified with someone believing that those on the other side of the door are trying to break in, especially when the door pops open like some in that video posted above.

What I hate the most about this is the majority of kids.......are good kids!

Not blaming the media for sensationalizing things. Their #1 objective is making money with ratings. And news stories like these help drive those ratings.

That said.....there's a whole lot of stupid behaviour by young people these days......

Re: A missing person case that's been in the news lately........:(

Law enforcement and the family have confirmed that Riley Strain was found in the Cumberland River this morning, approximately 8 miles downstream from the bridge. There were no signs of foul play on Riley’s body; it appears to have been a tragic accident.

This case has underscored how quickly circumstances can change, reminding us that tomorrow is never guaranteed.

To the family and friends of Riley Strain, please accept my deepest condolences. During the search, I heard many stories from you about Riley, who was clearly a remarkable young man. I hope you can find some peace in this difficult time. Rest in Peace, Riley.

I have zero tolerance for pranksters using my home and family as the prank. I know the law many times lands on the side of the idiot pulling the prank while putting the lion's share of responsibility on the homeowner. But when it comes to my family and their safety, I don't have time to figure out whether someone is participating in a social media prank game or trying to hurt my family.

It doesn't have to literally be called that in order to be a thing. In some states, getting squatters out of your property is insanely difficult.
It does vary considerably, but those cases are normally cases arising out of pre-existing legitimate claim, IOW, a tenant at will, or with a lease. Then there is a procedure which must be followed. I don't think of such as "squatters," nor are they usually called that. Here, it's normally handled outside the civil system. If a stranger is found on premises without permission, the owner takes out a warrant for criminal trespass, the trespasser is warned and then arrested and removed, if he/she doesn't leave voluntarily...

In some states, this is undoubtedly true. In others, well it gets a bit more complicated than this. Stossel put together an interesting story that might interest you.

Just saw a report he was found without pants, wallet, and boots, so a second autopsy is being ordered.

How likely is it they came off as he was washed down the river? Depends on the style of the boots?

Having grown up on the Tennessee, it doesn't surprise me at all. Nude is not unusual. Back about 40 years ago, we dragged a girl up out of Left Crack on the Chatooga. She was nude. Of course there was fierce current at work on her. However, the Columbia had several days to work on him...

There is no telling how many hens I've seen killed exactly the same way - by my mother, although she omitted the stomping part. I asked her to cut their heads off and she complied - in order to show me by its running around with no head - why she wrung their necks...

From my Nicaragua surf trip........she used a rope and swung that chicken around and around until it expired.

I wasn't appalled at all because it's part of the culture there....plus the chicken was used for food!

This redneck clown was drunk and he killed that chicken for no reason at all except for being an ignorant ass. We have chickens who wander all around on Flagler Ave. and they are considered family, just like our Gopher and Box turtles that wander across a roadway from time to time just trying to live their lives. They had this scumbag on video and I'm really glad he was caught and brought to justice.

BTW.....I really enjoyed Nicaragua! :)
