Crime blotter

Oh, here's a real one:

Mr Macartney, a former motorcycle gang member who previously spent time in prison, ran several chat groups for monkey torture enthusiasts from around the world on the encrypted messaging app Telegram.

The groups were used to share ideas for custom-made torture videos, such as setting live monkeys on fire, injuring them with tools and even putting one in a blender.

The ideas were then sent, along with payments, to video-makers in Indonesia who carried them out, sometimes killing the baby long-tailed macaque monkeys in the process.

LOL....here's a good one....don't mess with us landscapers! :D

Some robbery suspects in northwest Harris County messed with the wrong guy who used his weed eater to fight back. Video shows the victim trimming a lawn on March 29, 2024, on Renmark Lane near Cypresswood Drive. According to Precinct 4, he spotted some men stealing equipment from his truck parked a few houses down. As the suspects drove past him, they tried to hit the victim with their car, Precinct 4 said. That's when he threw his weed whacker at their windshield. The car kept going but one passenger fell out and landed in the street. He tried to stand up but kept falling back down as the victim threatened him with the weed eater. He finally ran off and got back into the red, four-door vehicle waiting nearby. Precinct 4 says a second dark-colored vehicle may also have been involved. "The suspect, Jerell Alexander, received minor injuries from being struck and was later located at a local hospital," Constable Mark Herman said.

Hard to follow what's going on there towards the end...

This story has been in the news lately and arrests were made yesterday.....the daughter of one of them is saying the 2 women were ground up in a meat grinder......

Looks like a custody issue......

Straight out of Central casting from Deliverance. Below are the 4 arrested in connection with the disappearance of the #VeronicaButler and #JilianKelley.
@NewsNation has been relentless in their reporting with boots on the ground reporting since the tragedy occurred. These custody dispute cases are so dangerous. There needs to be stiffer rules regarding exchange locations. In the middle of nowhere is no place for a custody exchange. This story is nothing short of tragic. This case and the #CassieCarli need to be well publicized as a warning to others.

*rolls eyes at Canada... again*
It's hard to accept in a post Home Alone world, but booby traps are generally illegal, even in the US. Basically, if you could reasonably expect someone to be seriously injured by the trap, best not do it. It's not the fishing line itself, but the potential for someone entangled in the fishing line to fall and hit their head. (straightforward things, not Final Destination Rube Goldbergs).

Now, if they're prosecuting the homeowner for physically assaulting the pranker, that's just stupid--how do you know it's just a pranker and not someone with more nefarious intentions?
