It just seems that every week this Team has been in a war every game. The term in the fire is that they seem to have to pull a win out of the fire. Do you think that it would make a Team stronger being in close games or weaking them? I believe it will make them stronger in the future. Roll Tide!!!

The only problem with close games is if you win them all (like we almost did last year), it gives a false security. When this happens teams seem to let off after they get a couple of scores ahead, sometimes just a TD ahead.

Winning close games helps out a lot, but it can also make us contempt instead of going for the jugular (sp?).

You and me both, brother. I am going to have a coronary over one these games pretty soon. I can feel it. I'm ready for a game when I can breathe. I know it won't happen this week. We got another war coming up. Maybe homecoming will be different.

I don't recall the '92 team kicking the dookey out of anyone
25 Vanderbilt 8 Tuscaloosa (TV) Sept. 5
17 Southern Miss 10 Birmingham Sept. 12
38 Arkansas 11 Little Rock (N) Sept. 19
13 Louisiana Tech 0 Birmingham Sept. 26
48 South Carolina 7 Tuscaloosa Oct. 3
37 Tulane 0 New Orleans (N) Oct. 10
17 Tennessee 10 Knoxville (TV) Oct. 17
31 Ole Miss 10 Tuscaloosa Oct. 24
31 LSU 11 Baton Rouge (TV) Nov. 7
30 Miss. State 21 Starkville (N, TV) Nov. 14
17 Auburn 0 Birmingham (TV) Nov. 26
28 Florida 21 Birmingham (TV) Dec. 5
*34 Miami 13 Sugar Bowl (N, TV) Jan.1, 1993

3 games won by only 7 and 2 of those were Tenn and Fla. Every other game won by at least 2 scores, and scoring on that team was no small feat. Avg margin of victory was just over 18 ppg.

As for winning close games, it's good when your able to win big games in the clutch. Not so good when you have to do it against Mediocre University.

I too am ready for a good old boring blowout, us winning big. But this team might not give us one this year. We continue to play to the level of our competition. This is, as others have said, not good for folks with a history of cardiac problems.

I didn't have a history of cardiac problems until this year. Hmmmmm....... coincidence? or just old age catching up with me?

It's a good thing watching Bama football doesn't CAUSE cardiac deficiencies, only exacerbates an existing condition. Elsewise I would have joined the choir invisible long, long ago. :eek2: With this year's team, it probably would have been a good idea for all our fans to have had a cardiac profile done prior to the season, just to be safe.

I think a lot of close games early brings the team together, it keeps the focus on learning and getting better, it challenges the coaches and keeps them learning about their team, reduces the tendency toward over confidence. However, a good win against a Tenn. would be excellent for team confidence about now.:)

I too believe that being in the "fire" does cause you to play harder and believe you can do it!

Look at this year's first OT with the Hogs.......we lost it; but I think we learned from that OT, the team benefited from losing (God forbid); but they came around and beat Ole Miss when it came down to it this time and they did NOT have to go into another OT either!!!!!
