Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

Well one thing that was just flat out below the belt for Auburn is in any way convincing CK that by him going to Alabama he might cost his own brother a position. That showed a complete lack of class. I sure hope CK takes that into consideration when he's making a decision. If they lie in the recruiting process, you think they'll give you the straight shot when you are on campus? I don't think so.

No one really knows what is going on except the family. Even if we don't get him I'm glad him and his family gathered and figured this whole thing out because this is a major part of his future and he needs to make the best decision for him.

That being said, roll tide.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

Things are starting to unravel in this thing IMO... and it seems that clarity is coming regarding how the Barn got into the mix with such a short time before NSD. Any way you cut it, the way AU has recruited this kid is a disgrace - trying to cut the family out of the decision and having folks in their corner come out publicly and say he "owes" them an explanation for his actions. With all of the promises that I'm sure have been made to each one of their incoming OL, I'm wondering what every OL already on campus is thinking... and you have to think at some point, someone is going to start leaving and talking.
If this is true, Rich, they have descended into a very, very contemptible place.

M-b

Does Auburn offer a Degree in what he wants to study?

Does Alabama offer him a Degree in what he wants to study?

Does he just want to go to school to have fun? He appears to be a serious and sincere student/person. Did he have fun on his trips to Bama? Apparently he must have had a lot of fun in Hicksville, Alabama where the Barn is located. Apparently, he must have been there at night where lights can make even those Barns look good.

Does he just want to Major in Football and then in three years go to the NFL for the $$$. That degree could come in handy if he were to get hurt. What does he want to do after a football career if he is successful and doesn't get hurt?

We see too many former athletes who become bankrupt after making mega $'s. They either invest unwisely or just spend those ?millions? quickly and end up broke.

Recommendation: a Business/Finance Degree from the University of Alabama. What do you think?

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

We're going to find out tomorrow.

FWIW, I think Cyrus is a great kid and I'm convinced he'll be an absolute superstar at the next level. Having said that, everything that I can gather right now indicates to me that he will sign with Auburn tomorrow.

I pray to every God under the sun that I'm an idiot who is completely misreading this situation and that he'll sign with 'Bama tomorrow, but honestly I can say that I just do not expect it at this point. Again, hope I'm wrong...

For what it is worth his HS coach says he thinks he will pick the Barn still after several converstaions with him today.
If he does then so be it. We'll move on and will be ok. Remember what happened w/Keenan Allen? He spurned us @ the last minute, CNS took it in stride and went out and got the best HS Sfety in this years class. Cal will continue to mediocre and we will continue to be in the unt for championships. With or w/out Cyrus the Barn will return to mediocrity next year.

we've got a great class, a class that's going to win a lot of ball games for us over the next 3-4 yrs, and I look forward to definitely seeing Arie Kouandjio being a part of that. If CK decides to be a part of that and put on the crimson jersey, I'll welcome him with open arms
Amen and thank you.

I really don't like the direction this thread has taken.
Me either....I'm fairly new to this board, and I mean no disrepsect to anyone on it, but the overall tone of this thread damages my belief that Bama fans are the classiest fans in the country.

The behavior on this board is usually very isolated, but the Barn 'cheating and winning' has caused many to lose their cool. We've suspended a few the past couple days.

Agreed, he is as good as gone in my opinion.

Not to be disrespectful to anyone associated with Cyrus, but due to the way our defense attacks, I don't think it'll make a big difference for the Barn. Michael Oher didn't seem to stop our pass rush, FWIW. Heck, their OL was dominated against our "weak pass rush" this year, and their OL was supposedly stacked. Lets just hope that Jesse Williams, Quentin Dial, Pagan, and Dickson develop to a higher level than the Barner recruits do.

I for one believe his coach is dipping, hope that this gets straightened out before this is over, if it does I think its over for the goobs. This coach is pulling his string for his benefit, you can't make me believe other wise! Roll Tide

If Auburn starts 4 true freshmen on the OL next season they are going to get killed! Their D wasn't world beaters this past year that lost their best players so they aren't going to be able to carry that offense either. Da Barn will stink next year! And then the you know what should hit from the NCAA! At least the K's have a son at Bama to be excited about watching play for championships. If Cyrus is hell bent on the Barn then there really isn't anything they can do but let him learn the hard way. What looks shiny and nice is not always sugar and spice!

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

I have been reading for two days that Cyrus really wants to come to Alabama, that his heart is telling him Alabama, etc., etc. I am sorry, but I totally disagree. Everything MY head (and heart for that matter) are telling me is that it was really Auburn that he wanted to sign with, it's just the complications with his family that are causing him issues. Do we really believe that Auburn has some sort of Vulcan mind-meld thing going on that they can control these kids with?

The guy made friends at the all star game and they decided they wanted to play together. At Auburn he has been promised a starting job from August onward. We can't do that and won't. He doesn't have to compete with his brother, but he is close enough that he can see him often.

I wish the kid would just sign it and get it over with. If he wanted to come here it would have been the easiest thing in the world to have done, because his family wanted him here and the whole world expected him to come here. If he wanted to come here it would have been over by now. He wanted to go to Auburn but he didn't want to upset or disappoint his parents. Oh well. It's time to be a big boy, and I am sure he will be. His parents love him and will support him in what he wants to do, and in my mind it's pretty darn clear what he wants.

So why am I worng?

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

I don't like how it's setting up. Coach basically telling him he needs to "just make a decision", in other words rushing him, telling him he needs to be talking to Auburn because he "owes" them, and that he doesn't need to be talking to Bama because he didn't choose Bama. Telling him that it's all his decision and he shouldn't listen to his family. McGregor's clearly pushing him to the barn, and it seems like CK's following Coach's advice, as he's reportedly been back and forth with barn all day. Doesn't seem to be setting up very well at all to me. Someone earlier said the barn may have ruined it for both bama schools, and that occurred to me also. MB came on and dropped a short clue about bone's tweet - the announcement won't come tomorrow between Bama and the barn. Seems to me it's setting up very badly for Bama. Looks to me like CK's either listening to McGregor and the barn or NM's still in it a LOT more than popular reports indicate.

But whatever.

I'm with deliveryman. I'd LOVE to have Cyrus in Crimson, winning championships literally alongside his brother. They seem like a close family with a lot of character, and I like those kind of players at Bama. But if he chooses another school, I wish him well. We'll win championships with or without him. We signed an INCREDIBLE class that will be winning championships and churning out pros. I'm stoked about that, with or without CK. Roll Tide and mega-thanks to the coaching staff, team, recruits and entire Bama Nation for doing such a great job, both on the field and off. We're putting together a dynasty with a solid foundation and doing it the right way - putting young men, their futures (education), and their families first.

I wonder if UA is going to start an architecture program as a result of this.
