Agreed that both can be wrong, but that article pointed out Trump's hypocrisy as well as possible justifications for pleading the fifth.
For the record, wasn't Dan Rather duped into believing the records were true and CBS didn't manufacture them. That's not to justify what Rather did just explain it better. He screwed up and paid the price.
I don't remember the story well enough to say for sure, but it is a HELL of a lot easier to dupe someone when you are telling them what they want to hear. I suspect that was a contributing factor.
I think I remember there being a good suspicion that the document was planted by the Bush campaign - to embarrass his critics, Rather being one of them.
If true, that would be an easy stunt to pull off. Dubya would have never thought of this, but Cheney might have. Which is why one must never, ever, ever, ever trust a Cheney. (And don't go hunting with them, either.)
