These agents have the ability to create "rumors" with just one phone call to set up a situation that puts the universities in a very leveraged situation. The university can either believe the rumors and pull the checkbook out, or roll the dice that it's all bull hockey and run the risk of it being real and their coach gets hired out from under them. It's a sick game agents have the ability to play. Saban's agent did it to Alabama about every other year to get him a significant raise and extension.

It is a little ironic. Some of us are actually old enough to better understand how our Grandparents felt about the 80's after Coach Bryant's tenure. The braintrust at that time made some interesting choices to say the least. But the recruiting makes you feel cautiously optimistic and you hope the refreshed game day management in this upcoming season makes us breathe a little easier. The staff contracts hint at who is on the short leashes for certain. There definitely needs to be a sense of urgency this Summer.

I believe we will be "contenders" every year under Coach Debour. That is good. If we can always be competitive for championships and almost always make the playoffs.... that is a very good football program.

Saban's agent & CKD's agent are one in the same, as is every other Coach hired in the last few years prior to Saban leaving and beyond. I'll go ahead and ask again,,,, why? Did Byrne even look at anyone Sexton did not represent?

Bottom line CKD was playing the hand he was dealt by ADGB, promises were made prior to his hire to keep a competitive roster intact. A good many of those elements were incompatible QB, OL, and DL. Bama didnt have the money to let all the players portal out and rebuild through the portal. There was a plan to transition from Saban. What we saw was Plan B.

In the mind of ADGB, the last 2 years had no factor in CKD resume at Bama each side fulfilled their obligations to each other.

This is professional football now and business choices have to be made. We dont just have the pick of the litter recruiting now. And you must run systems that will allow freshmen to play competitively. We didnt have that with Saban's defense, Fitzpatrick and Downs notwithstanding.

NFL teams want to make the playoffs and then reevaluate goals. Same here now.

If you dont have unlimited resources then you have to maximize the resources you have. Top tier coaches is finite resource to attract talent to your program. It is still much cheaper to pay coaches under contract than it is to pay 250+ scholarshipped athletes NIL.

In this era, it is appropriate to adjust expectations. The dominance we have enjoyed over the last 15 years is not attainable under the current rule and financial regime.

Stop being a fan and think about the decisions being from standpoint of a leader with tremendous institutional, financial, competitive, and personal professional risks involved and then contingencies that emerge from whatever decision you make.

Coach Saban said the right thing, if Bama let's him go who we going to get, Sexton and I believe the guy's name is Armstrong, represent 95% of the coaches, you make them mad and you get some jack leg who can't Coach with a depleted roster and we are back to Dumbos days,all the negativity needs to stop and whether we like it or not, we have to get behind our coach,and I think he will win big hear, just be patient

Yep, I knew that. Finebaum mentioned in an interview on ESPN that Jimmy Sexton essentially controls major college football. If he keeps racking up coaches as clients, at what point does it fall under a monopoly? What happens when players start hiring him as their agent while they're in college?

You really think hiring a coach based on the agent he uses is workable?

I'm no Sexton apologists, but there's a reason top coaches use him. We can complain about the system, as it currently is, but ADGB, must operate within it just like every other AD and top football school.

Or, we could "Call Saul" and get a second rate HC. You think that'll work?
