I will be surprised if he loses more than one regular season SEC game. This is based on the SEC not being as good as yesteryears. This was obvious in the play off games last year and our miserable showing against a bad Michigan team and nothing has changed. Texas having it first and goal on the four yard line against Ohio State and giving up a touchdown speaks volumes. Playing in cold climates did not help and going forward in the play offs northern teams will benefit from this. I really don't see an outstanding team in the SEC. Who is the best team in the SEC?
In the last 6 games away from BDS we are 1-5
Only Tenn won more than 8 games (FSU tbd).
We don’t have to face a great team or best team to lose.
We keep getting out prepared and out played.
I hope to be wrong but I’d be shocked to only lose to 1 SEC team the rest of the year.
We are 7-5 in the last 12 games so I’m not overly confident in an upcoming 8-1 run to finish the regular season.
A lot is riding on this game Win or Lose.

Frankly, it would be embarrassing if Georgia posters/any rival could read some of these threads.
It would confirm what everybody always said, "Just wait until CNS retires!" Cause that's what this fear is! CKD is NOT CNS and half the board seems to be scared of losing to Georgia. CNS is not walking back into that door and if he did he'd struggle more than most of you think. Somebody documented it in another thread, but in his last 3 years he laid about 3 eggs a year of unprepared/unBama-like/un-Saban-like football. And he was the GOAT!
No, CKD is not CNS but there is nobody else out there who is either! Not the Ducks coach. Not the Yellow Jackets' coach. Not Indiana's!
If we start down this road, we'll have another 20 year period of wandering in the wilderness trying to find "the next Saban" just like it was after Coach Bryant!
Give the man some time. He's our Coach. We might lose to Georgia or we might win. But this game shouldn't be in our collective heads like this!!! And how about a little respect for our team/coach!

I think last years road losses are different because of who was underneath the center. This year it is TS team and he is 0-1 on the road. The loss was on the entire team units. Ty played his heart out.

Unfortunately, this is what happens when you're a $10 million/year head coach for one of the most storied football programs in history, and in less than one year and four games (into the second season) you've already had five games where you, your staff and your teams looked completely unprepared. Not one person on this board (or any Bama fan I know) minds losing as long as the team looks prepared, plays hard, is competitive, and we just lost. But there will never be any leeway for showing up with a team that looks unprepared, plays unprepared and the coaching staff appears to have no clue either. There will NEVER be, or should be, any leeway for that. It also doesn't help your case when other coaches at other P4 programs are doing better with less resources and less talent than you are.
Everyone here wants CKD to succeed, but they're not going to blindly follow and cheer on someone when they've seen some of the things that have been displayed by this staff and team for going on two years. Again, this isn't Iowa St where winning 8-9 games/year gets the coach an extension and a raise. It gets you fired at Alabama. Those aren't my rules, it's always been that way and it being that way is what has been part of what keeps up the program's championship standards and expectations. Bama fans are the most passionate in the game, they know good football when they see it and they know bad football when they see it as well. When they start consistently seeing good football, the accolades and support will follow. It's called earning it. Nick Saban had to do the same thing when he first was hired and once he earned the fans respect, he got it in spades. DeBoer is going to have to do the same thing and whoever comes after him will too.
Here's some thoughts about DeBoer:
He's 50 - same age as Joey Freshwater, only DeBoer's daddy isn't a Hall of Fame coach.
Here's the thought that bubbled up in my hat holder the other day: everywhere he's been the players have been hungry to win, did he ever stay anywhere long enough to establish a culture? If Wikipedia is correct he's never really had to build/rebuild a culture because the guys were willing to do whatever was necessary to win and he moved up the ladder of coaching to a more prestigious job.
DeBoer's tenure at Alabama will be determined by his ability to repair the cracks in temple of Saban, and establish a winning culture in the face of NIL and unlimited eligibility and transfers. That's not an easy task unless you're Oregon or an oil school.

I'm sure Saban *could've* figured it all out, but he *didn't.* So now DeBoer has to coach in the GOAT's shadow while simultaneously navigating unchartered waters of program building in this era
This is where hiring outside the Saban tree could end up being better in the long run
1. Country Time is better than Toomer's Corner lemonade. Full stop.
2. Saban was a job hopper, too. A bunch of assistant jobs, 1 year as HC at Toledo, 5 at Michigan State, and 5 at LSU. The consensus is that he wouldn't even make but a few years at Bama before bolting back to LSU or the NFL.
3. I think most of the fan base thought the Temple of Saban was in better shape than it was and the CKD would NOT have to build his program. We were fooled.
My favorite posts are always predict-the-future posts that completely sideline the Xs and Os of football, the current difficulty of managing NIL rosters, and attempt to crystal ball a future assuming a straight line from the a last few game outcomes.
