Dick Cheney has died

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

Dick Cheney was an excellent Secretary of Defense. The way he handled himself before and during Gulf War I. I really thought at the time that he would make a great POTUS.

Maybe he was always a Darth Vader clone, but something seemed to turn on him when he became Vice President. The way GW II went down, the secret meetings investigating Iraqi oil fields, and I do believe the Bush 43 administration ginned up the intel because it all came across as suspect to anyone really paying attention. From the beginning. And Democrats rolled over, afraid of being labeled with "Why do you hate America?"

But given the fecal show that in charge today, I would say that Dick Cheney was more than competent. And that is saying a lot right now.

Ed Rollins (Reagan's 1984 campaign manager) closed out his book with an assessment of who would be his perfect candidate for President. He wrote the book between the 1994 midterms and 1996 election (for reference point). He pointed out different assets from both sides of the aisle that would make his perfect candidate. He even made the point that Hillary Clinton was one of those rare candidates who was BOTH positive AND negative, saying Bill never would have won without her.

Then he said that there was nobody that met all of those criteria, but the one who came the closest was Dick Cheney.

In a way, Dick Cheney is the Mike Shula of Republican politicians, fantastic as a SECDEF and.....well.......not so good as a VP.

And btw - before anyone totally views his life through Gulf War II, just last year he endorsed Kamala Harris for President, saying Trump can never be trusted again.

I have made my non-sports mea culpas pretty clear here about my past mockery of the Bush 43 years.

As bad as I thought things were during that time, I never thought things would get this bad.

At least there was still a sense of decency, and the rule of law. The real cowards now are Republicans in Congress, many of whom will tell you in private that they hate the way things are, yet are too afraid of being primaried to stand up to the lunacy.

He's sadly already been replaced by far worse politicians. It seems there's an endless supply of miscreants who care too much for money and power and care too little (and for too long) for those they would hurt gaining money and power. He did, like so many before him, see the dark path he trod, and feared those carrying his torch as shown when he endorsed Kamala over Trump.
