I was wondering if anyone watched the under the lights show about Bama and CNS? My Dvr did not record it so I am kind of wondering what I missed.
Yeah, I think an hour would've been much better...given the commercials it was really only about a 17 minute vignette...I DVRed it and was pretty impressed, but I thought it probably should have gone on for at least an hour. It was just 30 minutes long and I felt like they crammed it all into 30 minutes. I'd have loved to have seen more. Oh well. Take what you can get, right??? It did make me bad because I got all fired up for football season and then I listened to the radio this morning and realized we're still 84 days away!!!
What I took from it:I was wondering if anyone watched the under the lights show about Bama and CNS? My Dvr did not record it so I am kind of wondering what I missed.
Rick Karle of Fox 6 called it a "disaster" last night on the news. Now, that is hyperbole if I've ever heard it.What I took from it:
Very positive look at the Tide (we don't always get that in the media anymore) - although it didn't really reveal anything new about the team.
CNS calls the players by their numbers on the field.
It revealed that Saban is a lot friendlier than he's given credit for.
Saban definitely has a sense of humor -- "You don't want any of this '3'!"
It was on twice last night. Check your program guide, it may come on again.
AGREED...I watched it and enjoyed it last night. I thought it was an absolutely masterfully done PR Piece/Recruiting Advertisement. Gotta give Saban a ton of credit. He knows he still needs help resurrecting his image (still being called Satan by many in the media, Etc) and anyone who watches this will come away thinking more of him. Plus if any recruits were watching last night it was like a 30 Minute infomercial on why to sign with Bama.

Don't take this wrong but what in the world are you talking about? The program had nothing to do with "the same cast of characters that went 7-6 and lost to Auburn".I watched it but I don't think it taught me anything. No new incoming freshmen in the spring game. Minus the graduating seniors, it is the same cast of characters that went 7-6 and lost to Auburn.
We need to start about four redshirt freshmen, four in-coming freshmen, and play about eight more from both of those groups very heavily.
Nothing wrong with Coach Saban's coaching, but we are STILL thin as ice-water all over the field.
I'm predicting an 8-5 record, but we'll see.
Did Karle say anything as to why he thought it was a disaster?Rick Karle of Fox 6 called it a "disaster" last night on the news. Now, that is hyperbole if I've ever heard it.
I don't think we watched the same program. You saw all that? That is blind optimism, based on nothing. The QB and O-line you reference have yet to , uh, perform shall we say so as to not put too much negative emphasis on the point. The program was simply an inside look at what drives coach Saban and the impact he has had and will have on players for the Tide. What this program did was also tell you that under Shula (to quote Johnson) the players for the Tide were simply happy with the tradition Alabama has enjoyed, and that Coach Saban has completely changed their attitude. It is apparant to me that regardless of our record this coming season (and I have no idea what 5 teams you think will beat us considering we're about the only team without a new QB and O-Line) that we will be much improved this year and could be truly special (if we get a QB some good reps this year) in '09!
He was mostly being critical of Fox, and said that he thought it was poorly done. Then he made a little remark about coach Saban only allowing access that he wants. I pretty much expected that type of response from our in state media. They'll do just about anything to stir up a controversy over nothing all in the name of ratings. I'm sure we'll all hear about how bad it was today on the sports talk shows.Did Karle say anything as to why he thought it was a disaster?
Sounds like someone's had their little feelings hurt, & is pouting. He was mostly being critical of Fox, and said that he thought it was poorly done. The point was, that year two is where the most improvement is seen. If you could not see that in the spring, then you are blind. I don't think anyone here is saying that we're going to win a SEC title, but 7-5 is not what we're looking at if the improvement in the spring is continued. Last year's 7-6 record had more to do with attitude, than a lack of overall talent. Now, we have a ways to go to catch other teams in the SEC, in terms of talent, but that gap can be severely closed with hard work and a better attitude.I don't think we watched the same program. You saw all that? That is blind optimism, based on nothing. The QB and O-line you reference have yet to , uh, perform shall we say so as to not put too much negative emphasis on the point.
I'm am all for cheerleaders, and rah-rah has it's place. That is all it was, though. I personally was looking for more substance, I guess.
