No it is the fact that you act like abarner that makes you on equal footing with them. I never said you were a barner, just no better.

You can still be a true Alabama fan and have no class. Say what you will, but I go to all the games I can go to and I can voice my opinion just as loudly as you can voice yours. That makes me no more uptight than you. You are free to chant and act like a fool and a barner all you like. As I said, I am not preventing anyone from doing it, but at least be honest about what you are doing and don't try to justify it as somehow different from all the other classless acts other schools do. It is your perogative to make a fool of yourself. Let me know when it is okay to voice opinions that you don't agree with.

If you are a true fan then you should respect the University and carry yourself with class.

BamaLaw, your self-righteousness is just downright funny. I hope you're not sitting there thinking you're convincing anyone of anything.

I'd say sitting there in silence (the presumed alternative to chanting "USC") would be akin to actually supporting that farce of a "National Championship". It was a presentation of what was purported to be a "people's" national championship. The "people" have every right to chant for the team that they believe to be the National Champions.

Class does not enter into this equation. All I see is a bunch of fans expressing their opinion of who they thing the "people's National Championship" belongs to. It would be "classless" to chant something like "you suck" or something derogatory such as that. But to chant the name of another school that the rest of the country acknowledges as the National Championship? That's just expressing a valid opinion.

Why do you consider it classless to tell an Auburn supporter that you think USC is the rightful national champion?

Good lord man, you're making yourself look ridiculous. And your condescension certainly isn't "classy", its hypocritical. And wildly amusing. I've got a great mental picture of you. You'd love it.

I agree. I was there when Minnesota played "Rocky Top" after they won, and I thought of it as down right trashy. I thought to myself "Alabama would never do a thing like that." When people hear of the University of Alabama, they think of class; we need to prove that they are right and we don't stoop down to the levels of others. We would be hippocrits to call Minnesota classless and then turn around a do the same thing in return.
Glad to see there are more "elitist, superior snobs" on this board.

So now class is defined as self-righteousness? Now THAT is truly funny! Wait. No it isn't. It is sad. If you read you can see AGAIN that I am not trying to convince anyone, but thanks for your concern.

It is more akin to Kerry(or Gore) supporters protesting the innauguration. The results were already in regardless of whether the election was valid or proper. What I chose to do, was get up out of my seat and go to the concourse to avoid the "ceremony" all together. I wish all the 3000 Bama fans had done that instead and left the couple of hundred Auburn fans there to cheer in the echoing gym.

Nice rationalization. I am sure it was done with honorable intentions as you suggest.

Why do you consider it classless to tell an Auburn supporter that you think USC is the rightful national champion?
For the same reason I find it classless when they question our Championships. I would prefer they claim their joke of a championship so they can no longer question our rightful ones.

Said the pot to the kettle.

LOL

I'm just calling you out on being delusional, I don't claim to be better than you (or anyone else here). But you've got lots of support from the crickets, so I guess you showed me.

If chanting "USC" is "classless", how do you not see getting up and leaving as rude? Nice situational rationale.

maybe you need to read your own posts. YOU are the one that took offense to the chant not me.
I did not take offense to it, I simplt found it classless. There is a difference you know.
so tell me do you sing the rammer jammer?
Yes and no. I do sing "Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer, Give 'em Hell Alabama" but I do not add the taunt of Hey Whoever We just or We're gonna beat the hell out of you. That is my choice. i am not offended either when others say it, but I do feel the taunt is classless.

You are free to believe whatever you choose.

Because it does not ridicule the other side it simply someone excersing their right not to be there for anything except support for their team. You seem to think I must either taunt or support. That is not the case.

lol

Taunting is never classy. Why don't you provide me of an instance when it is. Sorry if you can't handle the truth. Tell me when the POWERLINEMAN book of classy taunts is coming out.

you've never heard me say one way or another if it was taunting or not. ive never said if it was classy or not. im glad you enjoy putting words in other peoples mouth. i dont care what is classy and what is not its part of the fun of COLLEGE ATHLETICS.

Well by all means tell me whether you thought it was classy - your opposition to my opinion that it was classless seems to indicate that you felt it was at least okay. I have not put anywords in your mouth at all. In fact, I have repeatedy stated that you have every right to act like all others who enjoy the "fun" of college athletics. Just don't proclaim it as classless when others do it back to you - hence my reference to Minnesota. You can be classless and have fun, but at least be honorable enough to be honest about it.

i havent said anything about the minnesota deal. they can do what they like doesnt bother me. just like when the two aubarn doofs came to our section wednesday night with a sign with the last 3 years of football scores on it taunting us. i didnt say anything and i didnt call them classless, its part of our rivalry so its all in good fun(or atleast for me anyways). who am i to call it classless? maybe it is, maybe it isnt? who cares and who wants to be that nit picky about it(well nevermind.....). im not gonna sit at a ballgame and do nothing and be as quiet as i can and not have what i call 'fun'(others too it seems).
