Did Coach Saban apologize to Houston Nutt?

Yes, it looked to me like he said "Sorry about that" when they were shaking hands. I don't think he wanted to make his friend's team look as bad as they did, but there isn't much you can do when the other team can't stop the second- and third-stringers. By the way, there is absolutely no shame in being a second- or third-stringer on this team.

I did read his lips when he said sorry. I just thought it could be about 2 kids getting knocked out for what is most probably the rest of the year.

Ahh didn't see the handshake. CNS isn't known for running up the score intentionally just one of those things that happens for players getting hurt as well.

He likes CHN and even recommended him as his replacement when he left LSU. I could lip-read "sorry," but not the rest. It couldn't have been the injuries, because he didn't really know how severe the injuries were at that point. I think he was just telling an old friend that he was sorry we made them look so bad...

Ya'll know CNS doesn't like to run up the score. He was very upset when Michigan State quit and couldn't even stop Lacy up the middle. He didn't like that happening to Dantonio and he probably didn't like it happening to Nutt. We win and go home. We're not out there to earn style points for votes like some teams.

I guess that's a nice gesture, but totally unnecessary. Though, if it were my friend I would prolly do the same.

I think Nutt owes Coach an apology for putting such a crap product on the field to scrimmage against us.

Now that time out when UM was going to try the long field goal makes more sense. He gave Nutt a chance to "rethink" about what he was about to do!

Two quick points: (1) CNS motivates his team to make the other team quit. Seems like there's a famous quote to this effect. One shouldn't apologize for getting what you ask for. (2) The 2010 Alabama/Auburn game...sometimes not wanting to embarrass the other team can come back to haunt you.

Sorry but I would argue that we didn't lose that game because we were trying to be "nice". Saban's style is to play conservatively once they have established a nice lead...this does come back to bite you from time to time.

I heard another commentator saturday night say again that Alabama runs up the score on teams by running the ball. If you know we're gonna run the ball every play from half way through the third quarter on out, and you can't stop it, what are we supposed to do, just lay down and stop playing?

Whew!! Thank God that didn't happen!
I said in another thread that I think Houston Nutt and Mike Leach fall under the eccentric coaches that if given Les Miles level talent might produce the same results.

The thing with both of those guys is neither ever had a position to get truly elite talent so the results have always been erratic. However, if they were given a well stocked and well oiled machine like Les was, I think the same results would be possible. Flip thing around and I'd say the same, and given that Les Miles did put up Leach/Nutt type of results at Okie St. (8-5, 9-4, and 7-5) I think the results bear that out some.
