I've seen it mentioned in other threads but haven't seen any 'reputable' replies. So, did Rich Rod commit a Quiet Period violation by contacting Pryor on Sunday or not?

Not that it really matters one way or the other but if he did, I'll be curious to see if there is any discussion or fallout from it.

I believe he contacted him sat. prior to the beginning of the dead period............FWIW,however,It will be hard to pry PRYOR away from Penn ST anyway. I believe we have seen just making a prospects list doesn't always land them.

Phone calls are allowed during Quiet periods (and Dead periods, for that matter).

In person contacts (visits) are limited to on-campus only (Quiet period) or completely prohibited (Dead period).

I've imposed these same rules on my future in-laws.

Judging from his recent comments Michigan will definitely be a factor for his signature now that RRod is there. He was already looking at WVU because of Rod and his offense, now take that and add it to the Michigan name and you've got a potent combo for a guy like Pryor.

I thought phone calls from coaches to players were prohibited during dead period, but calls from players to coaches were allowed. From what I have heard, it was RR calling Pryor, which would make it a violation, if I am not mistaken.

The key words in both the Quiet and Dead Periods are in-person contact.

NCAA Eligibility - Recruiting FAQs
Contact period - permissible for authorized athletic department staff members to make in-person, off-campus recruiting contacts and evaluations.

Dead period - not permissible to make in-person recruiting contacts or evaluations on- or off-campus or permit official or unofficial visits.

Evaluation period - permissible for authorized athletics department staff to be involved in off-campus activities to assess academic qualifications and playing abililties. No in-person, off-campus recruiting contacts with a prospect are permitted.

Quiet period - permissible to make in-person recruiting contacts only on the member institution's campus.

From NCAA Bylaw 13.02.4.4 - Dead Period

It remains permissible, however, for an institutional staff member to write or telephone prospective student-athletes during such a dead period.
