Re: Clay Travis Says We Are In Potential Trouble

Not going to lie, all of these people saying x amount of schools are being "looked at" I have been nervous. I don't think our staff is cheating, but you never know what a kid will do when offered a chance to make a quick buck. So no you shouldn't be worried, but at the same time not surprised if something does come of this. Alabama players are our heart and soul, but at the same time, they are human beings who make mistakes.

Re: Clay Travis Says We Are In Potential Trouble

I just want to say this. I know I am really angry right now, so I'm not thinking clearly. But this WHOLE thing was started by Auburn fans on twitter. THEY dug this up and tweeted about it at Clay and Brooks. Brooks dismissed it and told them to cool it. But my problem is that throughout their entire ordeal, they have blamed us for EVERYTHING even though we had nothing to do with anything that came out and got reported by the national media. But now here is something that THEY dug up and put out to try to get us in trouble

Re: Clay Travis Says We Are In Potential Trouble

Why would you be? The pictures have no context and have been up for several months now. It is possible that this was a charity signing and was cleared by the NCAA. Its also possible that theres a violation there. Fortunately we have a real compliance department and they will look into it if it hasnt already been dealt with. If there are consequences to be dealt out then they'll do it.

Its good timing on clays part since UA will be up at SECMD tomorrow with TR in attendance. Clay has been a thorn in my side ever since the roundtable guys gave him a segment to talk about how much he hates anyone who's not UT and NOW he's got a website. Wonderful.

Keep in mind this is not the first time Auburn sleuths have "uncovered" "violations" at UA and sent then to anyone with a public voice and of course now they have the perfect tabloid writer to pass their stuff of on, instead of trying to go through Finebaum. Theyve gone into a panic that hasnt been seen since the operation red dog days and We'll have to ride out the storm.

Did T-Town Menswear Cause an NCAA Violation For Alabama? : Out Kick The Coverage

OK, this whole thing was STARTED by Auburn fans on twitter, and then they kept tweeting and emailing Clay and Brooks about it. I dismissed it at first, as just dumb barners trying to dig up crap on us to deflect from their misdeeds. BUT now Clay has written this about it, and I'm really worried. Should I be?
important to note that our guys do these kind of signings sometimes with UA and NCAA's permission. Clay gets the same info Brooks got but at 1 in the morning cant research it but makes sure he gets it on his website. And theres nothing in those pictures that constitutes a violation unless they were recieving benefits which again our staff would uncover and deal with.

Brooks gets it much earlier has a chance to look into it and tell Aubs to cool it.

Mostly remember its beyond our control, UA has a great compliance department and those pics are 8 months old not to mention our players know better. The University will likely address it in the morning and we will know one way or the other.

Thank you for making me feel a little better. Now I have to regret flying off the handle on twitter and being the messenger shooting idiot that I have laughed at AU fans for months for being

Re: Clay Travis Says We Are In Potential Trouble

Like recruiting these kinds of things are out of our control as fans and we have to trust the staff, compliance office and players. boosters are always the tricky part but again if there are any violations in those photos its a secondary issue unrelated to actions by the University which can be cleared up with a Cease and desist and smaller sanctions. There is no competitive adavantage for the team because Louie Linguini got some merch signed as long as our players did not profit.

And again the pics look like they were taken at signing for One kid not an army of people, so as far as we know here at 3 am, this was all cleared with compliance months ago. Again We'll know in the morning, but i wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

Expect to see many more articles like this from him. Anything to get a fan base worried or riled up.

Re: Clay Travis Says We Are In Potential Trouble

be ready for more of this. Clay and his band of buddies on their new website will be looking for stories like this every day. They're trying to be the new YahooSports. If there's anything 'iffy' out there, he'll hear about it and post it.

Re: Clay Travis Says We Are In Potential Trouble

It's possible that the players were simply just signing things to go on display. Beyond that, we don't know.

Clay Travis is the walking, breathing example of every halfway talented, obnoxious spoiled brat I've ever met.

If you think Finebaum or Brooks is bad, they've got nothing on this clown, who'll sell his own kid down the river if it would make great radio.

Re: Clay Travis Says We Are In Potential Trouble

These pics do not look good especially in the wake of the pending OSU case. I assume that UA has looked into this and was made aware of this some time back or either allowed the players to do this. Some of the pictures on the Facebook page was taken well over year ago and clearly this was something that was common knowledge around Tuscaloosa. I would be surprised if UA was not aware of this.

If these pics had Auburn players in it, most everyone on here would be all over it and slamming Auburn. This rivalry is getting nasty and I am afraid if AU gets in trouble with the NCAA over Cam, HBO special, etc. then people on AU's behalf will try and dig up anything they can find and try to get UA in trouble. This rivalry is going to eventually tear both programs apart if the "lunatic fringe" of both fan bases continue to act this way.

Re: Clay Travis Says We Are In Potential Trouble

Something doesn't add up here. These are supposed to be displayed in the Tuscaloosa mall, it's supposed to be a violation, they supposedly have been there for 7 or 8 months, but yet nobody from UA has seen them and identified it as a potential violation? There has to be more to the story.

Re: Clay Travis Says We Are In Potential Trouble

Travis Reier is claiming, via twitter, that UA compliance approved this function; whatever that function was.

As far as the store owner displaying the memorabilia, what can UA do about that??

Just PRAY that our guys aren't getting a hook-up at his store.

If Reier is saying that, then he's probably accurate...
