Did the Flora Bama make it?

I know that the place was only held together by a few termites holding hands. From looking at pictures on the news, it doesn't look to good for any more fish tossing.

Nope. News stories I've read in a couple of places say it's gone.

(I'm on web-page overload from trying to track down Gulf Coast news these last couple of days, & thus can't remember the particular places I saw this)

I can't imagine that it'd still be there. Still, whatever's left of it probably doesn't look much different from how it looked before. All they have to do is throw a tarp over what rubble is left, get the beer flowing, and call it the new FloraBama. No one will be the wiser.

I live in Perdido Key- had to flee to my former home- Atlanta. Anyway-the flora bama actually did survive. I've read all the reports that it was totally gone and had thought them to be true until I saw it. There's some damage- no doubt- but it's not a complete loss by any means. Some walls will certainly have to be replaced but there's more standing than not. My condo survived! Unbelievable! It's only a 2 story building made of wood and it's on the beach. I was shocked that it was still there. We rented a Uhaul and emptied the place before we left so there's nothing inside now but some sand and water.

I guess that asking if it "made it" is like asking if a Corvette doing 130 mph "made it" after its impact with a bridge piling.

Sure... the car is still there, but I guess that whether it "made it" or not is a judgement call.

The Flora-Bama lives: In a manner of speaking

Legendary Flora-Bama belted, buried, standing: Portions of bar's walls, roof damaged

The Flora-Bama lives.

In a manner of speaking.

That's the tentative answer to one of the more earnest questions that people on Alabama's coastline were asking Thursday: Did the Flora-Bama Lounge & Package store, that Perdido Key paragon, survive Hurricane Ivan?

"I heard the 'Bama's totally gone," an officer said at the Orange Beach police station. A friend of his got that from folks in Florida, he said, raising his eyebrows, pursing his lips and nodding gravely.

Actually, it remains in its rightful place, straddling the state line on Beach Boulevard. But its familiar wood floor is now 3 feet of sand. The structure lost portions of walls and its roof and appeared to have heaved its contents onto Alabama 182.

Thanks for all the replies. A bunch of us here at work who have seen a Mullet Toss or 2 wanted to know. That place is pretty special and hopefully can be restored back to it's pre-Ivan rundown condition. RTR
