Do You Consider Fox News as Fair and Balanced?

I would say that it the most balanced News Agency. It does slight to the right a little, but atleast they do have competant people on both sides of the issues to debate where as CNN will usually have three liberals debating one conservative on an issue.
My problem with these type of shows are to me the problem with Washington in whole. The politicians have lost focus on who the "team" is and have made our country two teams. The libs vs. the conservatives. If a Dem has a pushes for legislature that would benefit the country then the Repubs will fight it. If Repub. pushes for legisltion that would benefit the country then the Dems. would protest. I support Bush, but don't think is the best President that we have ever had. I agree with most that he has done but also disagree with alot. Unfortunately the talking heads in the media will always agree with their political affiliation and never disagree. I always have felt that if you agree with someone on everything then you are not thinking independently.
Maybe a little more then you wanted but I won't charge you for the extra info.

Sure, don't they day they are?

Seriously, they're as fair and balanced as CNN is; they lean right, CNN left. Fox has its milquetoast to counter Hannity; CNN its milquetoast to counter Begala. Actually, CNN ought to be flattered.

I think they are. Unlike CNN where you have the whole liberal media establishment vs. Robert Novak, at least Fox tries to present both sides of the issues and allows more than one left wing view... jmho....

Fox News does seem to be the lightning rod for criticism.

It's just 'cause they're #1 in the ratings. If they had ratings like MSNBC, nobody would give a damn about their bias.

That said, they have more conservative analysis than other news networks. Not saying much though, since other networks, particularly the Big 3, have little to no conservative analysis.

Well, the reason I asked was I was reading the thread about Kerry/NyTimes and their Liberal slant...and I was curious to see if anyone would honestly admit they were as to the right as Cnn is to the left, and someone(TexasBama) answered honestly. And that kinda proved my theory...I think that you guys somewhat support anything that is to the right...but thats human I guess.

And Mama, yes it was a little more than I asked

but I totally agree. If Bush comes up with a good Idea, I'm not going to trash it just because it came from Bush. I think the country has gone into too much of its "them" against "us"...

Hehe, so if we don't see it the way you do, we ain't honest.

Seriously, NYT's bias is of a far greater magnitude than FNC's. FNC's 'hard' news, when they've got the anchorperson sitting there reading, is dry as an old bone. NYT's bias seeps into and throughout what is supposed to be hard news. What gives FNC their conservative rep is their commentary shows with O'Reilly and Hannity, also Fox 'n Friends. These are the broadcast version of an editorial page.

Let's see:

Conservative Liberal
1.Fox News 1.NBC News
2.CBS News
3.ABC News
4.CNN News
5.PBS News

All I can say is thank God for Fox.

I disagree with your premise. Fox is not as far right as CNN is left. Fox actually gives the left a better opportunity to present its views than CNN does the right.
Remember the uproar (especially amongst the left/NPR) a few months ago about allowing expanded ownership of media? I am continually amazed that anybody would assert that this will curtail public discourse (by allowing one corporation to own more media outlets). Yet, when I examine CBS, NBC, and ABC evening news, I find that they cover almost exactly the same stories, normally in the same order in the program, and, most damning, with exactly the same editorial slant, a left of center one. Fox upsets this leftist ideal world, because it provides a viable alternative to New York liberal-speak that spews forth from the Big (but shrinking) Three. If three journalism students were to turn in products as similar as most ABC/NBC/CBS evening news editions, I'd bet that a Journalism professor would investigate for plagiarism/collusion. At least Fox's weltanschauung is different from that of the aforementioned.

Your list shifted, so:

Conservative - Fox News (but gives both sides)

Liberal - NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, PBS, and a bunch of newspapers as well. The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, The LA Times to name a few.

You have to turn to PBS or the internet for unbiased news. All other news seems to be interpreted before the report is offered. It is reported in a way that is deemed acceptable for their marketed audience.

It is no longer about education and reporting. It is now all about the money...

Yes they do. They say they have more liberals who works for Fox News than conservatives, and they DO give both sides which the others dont. But if they lean more to the right...then HURRAY!!! It's about time conservatives have someone to hear their side of an issue. You libs just can't stand it, can you? Even though you have all the other networks and most newspapers.

Ditto.

FoxNews is closer to the center than CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC and DEFINITELY WITHOUT A DOUBT PBS.

MSNBC is fairly close to center also.

The really aggravating aspect of the network news is that they vehemently deny that they have a liberal slant. They obviously think that the average viewer is an imbecile if they think that their bias isn't recognized.

I'd rather have someone LIE to me and try to make it somewhat believable than blatantly and unapologetically deny the undeniable. They must embrace the old adage that if you tell a lie long enough and often enough, it will be believed by most people.

The reason that FoxNews has taken the lead in viewership is that viewers don't like having their intelligence insulted by such smarmy faux intellectuals.
