Do you have a Pet Peeve (Part II)

My problem with apartment living...you get a deal from them, say $100 off, to sign on and move in but after the first year they go up $100. The next year the same...they keep going up on your rent regardless of whether you are good, on-time paying renter. So, they prioritize new renters over keeping existing ones. Finally got fed up with that and bought my first townhome. Never looked back.
This sounds like AT&T.

Mine is parents who take their kids into public spaces and let them scream like someone has ripped their arms off and are beating them with it.
Or, letting children run around a restaurant screaming like they are on a playground. If your kids cannot behave, take them to the McDonald's playground area or Chuck-e-cheese.

I've always rewarded my good tenants by not raising the rent (or only doing so modestly) so that the rent they pay going forward is a little below market. I see it as a win-win. I let the tenant know ahead of time about this to incentivize them to be good (pay on time, take care of the property, don't bother the neighbors, etc.). I get a problem-free steady income stream. I don't want to have to get a new tenant. My manager will have to get the unit cleaned ($), and it will take a couple of months of not getting rent before the unit is re-rented.

If one is a troublesome tenant, the rent is going up upon renewal. I'll either get extra income (to compensate for the headaches), or the problem child is forced to leave, and I get another chance at getting a good tenant.

I much prefer to get and keep good tenants.

When you know you've lost touch with reality.

Matthew Stafford and the Rams recently "adjusted" his contract due to Stafford citing "needing more security for his family".

Here's the pet peeve. The guy was set to make $36,000,000.00 this season and $15,000,000.00 next season. But needed "more security for his family".

Really dude? With $51,000,000.00 over the next two years and him being in his late 30's, he'd never have to work another day in his life and still live a highly affluent lifestyle. Geeze...

Xfinity is garbage, but living in an apartment have no other choice. My modem crapped out again for the third time. The second in 2 years. I found out yesterday that I had a 3rd Gen device. They are on 8 Gen. So for those keeping count, 2 years ago they replaced my busted modem with an old out of date modem. There was 12 people in line with the exact same problem. I went in person because they could not get anyone out to my place until Saturday between 2 and 5.

Have you thought about T-Mobile? You get 2 weeks to try it and with auto pay you are locked in for life at 50 dollars, 40 if you have their phone plan.

You can buy a MODEM for yourself and bypass the monthly charge. I've owned mine for years.

I have a friend who works in Miami. He has an electric heater in his office. He uses it during the Summer.
This drives me bananas. Used to work in a place and a lot of ladies had space heaters under their desks. So they were effectively fighting the A/C. I can’t imagine the power bill with the competing systems.

I LOATHE air fresheners in public spaces. You may like them in your home but don’t put them in offices.

I get headaches from strong perfumy scents. I’m sure there are others like me.
My current situation is in a Dr office waiting room waiting on my Dad. They have this place so perfumed I know I’m going to have a massive headache later. I can feel it coming on now starting right between my eyes.

You must have met my brother-in-law...

I think everyone knows someone like this. Unfortunately they are in abundance. Whether you work with them or are related in some way, they are there. Sometimes it takes a while to notice, the true sociopaths are really good at hiding it. I usually have a good radar for these types, but every now and then they can fool me. Not for too long though, they eventually reveal themselves for who and what they are.
