Does Bama offer a bass fishing scholarship?

Just got back from Sandestin and met a young man while I was fishing one of the lakes on the golf course. Cute kid, 14 or so and one of the most avid fisherman I'd ever come across. Got to talking with his mother and she told me he was hoping for a bass fishing scholarship so he could go to college at Bama.

Question.....does Bama offer scholarships in bass fishing?

Not that I am aware of but, who knows, there are so many different types of scholarships that have been endowed by individuals and companies that there may be one for kids who are good anglers. It could also be that BassMasters or some similar entity offers scholarship money.

Bama does have a Bass Fishing Team, but I'm pretty sure it's a club sport (no scholarships).

I can come closer to believing this than anything else. The way she explained it to me was Bama offered scholarhips for bass fishing and I had a hard time believing it but said nothing. With Title IX ruling collegiate athletics, I can't see any major program tying up 3-4 mens scholarhips for something like this. Now if it were a womens sport, I'd believe it in a heartbeat.
