Dolphins Benching Tua

Tyreek Hill out for season, bad defense, porous OL. Somehow the Dolphins just seem to get worse. They are a lot like the Failcons who simply refuse to build a defense to compliment their offense.

I've been a Bama fan since 1964 and there are plays will always be among my favorites. One was when George Teague ran down the Miami receiver and took the ball away from him. The other one is the 2nd and 26 throw that Tua threw to Devonta Smith to beat Georgia. I hope he retires and doesn't take a chance on getting anymore concussions.

Tua has been an elite QB at all levels of football, his hip injury at Bama, that injury took something out of him & all the other injuries since has taken its toll on Tua..

I hate too see him retire, buttttt, take the money & live a good life before he puts himself in a wheelchair or worse.

IMO, 2nd and 26 is the greatest play in college football history. Considering the drama of the 1st down play, the walk off TD completion to win the NC is in a place by itself in college football history!!!

Tua hasn't been the same since the hip injury in college. The multiple concussions have not helped. I'm not surprised that given his football IQ and processing powers, as well as how catchable his throws were, it was just "fair" in the football universe for him to be injury-prone. I absolutely hate it for him. I sincerely hopes he steps away and focuses on being healthy for his life. Maybe he can be a coach? I ask that not knowing anything about his post-NFL desires and goals.

Tua injured his hip last season and missed the last couple games. When asked about it in training camp, he said he’s okay, but the hip won’t get much better, I think that affects his throwing, and running… and I’ve no doubt the many concussions don’t help his reads.

This version of Tua is nothing like ours, or the guy who led the nfl in yards, tds and fewest interceptions a few yrs ago. I cringe watching him now…and he’s one of my all time favorites.
He has to be high on every Bama fan’s list of favorites.

I loved the last 40 minutes of game time Friday night, and there have been many other thrilling games, but the second half of the 2017 NC game remains my all-time apex of Alabama football.

Tagovailoa has $54 million in fully guaranteed compensation in 2026. That breaks down as a $39 million salary and a $15 million option bonus that needs to be exercised between the first and third days of the 2026 league year in March. Additionally, on the third day of the 2026 league year, $3 million of his $31 million 2027 salary becomes fully guaranteed. So if he's on Miami's roster as of 4 p.m. ET on March 13, the Dolphins will be on the hook for $57 million guaranteed.

If they were to release him prior to that date, they'd still have to pay him the $54 million in 2026 cash and would absorb $99.2 million in dead salary cap charges. (They could spread that out over two years if they designated him a post-June 1 release, but they'd still take $67.4 million in dead money charges on their 2026 cap and the remaining $31.8 million in 2027.) If they were to find a way to trade Tagovailoa before March 13, the acquiring team would become responsible for the $54 million in 2026 salary and bonuses, and the Dolphins' dead-money charge would drop to $45.2 million. If they traded him after March 13, presumably they'd be on the hook for the $15 million option bonus, while the new team would take the $39 million salary; the Dolphins' dead-money charge would be $60.2 million.
Lawyers & accountants make some nice livings keeping up with all these complicated contracts & league rules.
