Heard a blurb on ESPN radio driving in to work this morning. Scott Van Pelt previewed his show for today saying, "We'll put on our 'Outside the Lines' hats and take a closer look at Bama's claim to 12 National Championships."

I don't know if this is a TV segment, but I'm assuming radio? We don't get Van Pelt's show here, so if anyone has a synopsis, I'd be interested to hear ESPN's findings.

No, you wouldn't. I usually enjoy when SVP is in one of the two Sportscenter anchor chairs. But, I have a feeling if you listened to his radio show, this episode in particular, you'd be wishing for those precious wasted moments of your life back. SVP is the one that said -

Imagine you have been married to the same woman for more than 30 years,
you love her more than anything - nothing could ever change that. You
have shared many of your best memories with her and would never leave
her under any circumstances. Then you spend a day with a woman who in
some ways is more beautiful than your wife...you may never see her
again...but you won't forget her for a while either.
Maryland is my wife...Auburn is " the other woman ".
If you all love college sports - and I assume you do - you really need
to see a game there. I have been lucky to see a lot of places; I have
not seen a lot of places like that. It's an amazing scene in every
respect. Granted, I was there for # 3 vs. # 5...Auburn was 9-0 so it was
bound to be good
.

So, always take any subject which allows him to inject his opinion with a grain of salt and a heavy dose of skepticism.

They were awarded to us, they're not claims.

If they were merely claims, we could have claimed even more.

Wonder if he'll also investigate Notre Dame's? I'm guessing not.

There was a good article in the B'ham News this week explaining Alabama's position on this.

Been there. Done that. Yesterday.

Scott Van Pelt is great on TV when he's being told what to say. But his radio show leaves much to be desired. And that statement comes to you via someone who actually appreciates what Colin Cowherd brings to the table.
