Film Guy's take on the Bama loss

Back to the kick. Was it really that badly shanked or was the defender getting his hand on it what sent it so far off track? If the block had any part that would be directly attributable to the high snap. Bad snaps two weeks in a row...wonder if our special teams coach drills on handling high snaps.

the defender stepped on our guy(s) and put his hand on our guy(s) ... that's illegal leverage, correct? Yet another obvious missed call by the zebras. Not the reason we lost, but would have been HUGE to have one more play.

Regardless, not impressed (AT ALL) with Talty's yelling at his snapper - who did right thing to not respond. Your job is to kick it through the uprights and you didn't do it (and you're only 11/17 this season). Notwithstanding the "high snap". Maybe the rest of the team should yell at him when he misses again.

This guy comes up with so many wishy washy takes about his information on our practices and people who should know better go to message boards and regurgitate it as gospel truth. Yet our actual insiders are saying it’s nowhere near the truth. I think this guy is a mid level guy trying to bully his way to the next ring by trying to start crap for coaches to the point that they relent and give him the real information.
I appreciate anytime our posters bring outside perspective on to the board. I watched him enough time to know that he knows football well enough to break it down. but unless its posted on this board, I don't go out my way to watch his videos after a Bama win or loss.

a tie game at 17-17 would be huge for momentum before halftime. Oklahoma score 3 on their opening drive to start the 3rd quarter. Bama score a td on the ensuing drive and took the lead. if the fg was attempted again from a closer distant, chances are 17-17 at the half. most likely the score would have been 24-20 Bama in the lead. Oklahoma only scored 3 more points for the remainder of the game. 6 total points in the 2nd half. if nothing else happens, the final score would be 24-23. Btw, when Bama trails at halftime, they have lost twice, FSU and Oklahoma. So yeah, the fg was huge in many aspects.

We need this kid

Can't find him on any recruiting services, so maybe a diamond in the rough type deal?

We'd better do something though....here are the Kicker recruiting rankings and commits

2. Harran Zureikat - Georgia
3. Asher Murray - Texas A&M
5. Jake Collett - Texas
9. Trace Rudd - Oklahoma
11. Hayden Chambers - Miss. State (this kid is from Fort Payne, AL)

LAST YEAR:
1. Evan Neal - Florida
2. Max Kelley - SCarolina
10. Scott Starzky - Arkansas

2024:
2. Aeron Burrell - LSU
4. Towns McGough - Auburn

The name brand teams are picking up kickers....Clemson, Oregon, Notre Dame etc.....

Reichard came out of Hoover, didn't he? Let's go get this kid.

We need to hire Zach Alley or Todd Bates so we can break the code on a Brent Venables defense. Both have ties to the state of Alabama(Bates played here, ZA coached at Jax State)The guy absolutely owns us and has arguably had more success scheming against us than anyone over the last 23 years. Hes been involved in wins against us in 7 games spanning 3 HC’s:
2002
2003
2013
2016
2018
2024
2025

And losses in 2 games:
2015 NC game
2017 sugar bowl

He is good at breaking down film. But he isn’t an insider in our day to day stuff. To me his sources are more in the same category as Matt be great sources and those go like “I heard from a guy in Tuscaloosa”

I agree with all of this. He has knowledge of the game and makes good analysis but no real source to Alabama . To be fair to him I haven’t heard him apply to much inside knowledge but then I don’t watch everything he makes.

Did he by any chance talk about the missed FG followed by the blame game tantrum?

I’ve only watched his breakdowns a few times but he seems like the kind of guy to not be impressed by that whole deal.

I can see him saying something to the effect of…

“Hey the holder got it down laces our brother… make the Kick!…. Don’t blame your teammates on the field because you didn’t drive through the kick”.
Regardless of a problem with the hold, you should not blame and embarrass your teammate that way. Speaks poorly of the kicker's character that he did that.

In addition to playing leapfrog with our O-Linemen, he also started from a position more than 1 yard away from the LoS and jumped over the line, so either way it should have been a 15 yard penalty and an untimed down to try the kick again.

I see soccer players kick a ball that is rolling, while they're running, with a defender fighting them for the ball, and football kickers can't make a field goal unless the snap and hold are perfect? Really?

This guy definitely knows what he’s talking about schematically - and just because he was a part-time starter on a terrible lower division team doesn’t mean that he didn’t absorb some solid Xs and Os (and I suspect he has done a lot of post-playing research).

That said - keep in mind he’s running a YouTube channel and he gets paid for clicks. The Finebaum rule applies here - you’ve got to poke the bear and have some shtick, controversial takes, etc. to gin up interest and keep the cash flowing. This guy’s doing this to make money. I doubt he has inside sources (and according to many, he’s a Georgia homer) so the whole “they’re soft, they aren’t practicing hard enough” is pure bunk to generate clicks IMO.

I hate that we lost Saturday, but I didn’t see an ounce of quit in the team. They played their tails off.

with kicks that short he should be able to kick the ball off the ground while it’s spinning 🤣

"Let's bring in our rules expert Matt Austin." He's wrong more than he's right.

And the second "obvious missed" call that resulted in an ou win for them this year. remember they missed the call on that trick play when they played auburn? maybe this crew needs to be suspended for a while also.

Talty missed one a couple of weeks ago that I swear looked like it would go out of bounds, one of the worst I’ve ever seen. He’s got quite a bit to clean up himself before jumping on anyone else. The staff ought to line him up with some hitting drills against the long snapper today and tomorrow to get his mind right, because something certainly ain’t right with him.

Yeah, I was under the impression jumping over the line was a personal foul too. I just assumed I made it up since the announcers said nothing about it
And it is also illegal to make contact with the snapper which is who he put his hands on to jump over
