Film Guy's take on the Bama loss

With this one post you pretty much summed up what’s wrong with our offense in a big picture kind of way. It’s not that the OL is (consistently) all that bad. It’s not that the playcalling is all that terrible. It’s not that Ty always holds the ball too long. It’s that all those factors seem to come together in a negative way at the most critical points in the game. In that situation you mention that play should never have been called knowing you have a QB that tends to hold it too long and you have OTs that are vulnerable to speed rushes. Recipe for disaster and that’s what we got.

Yes... I wonder if another year will see good improvement as we build a deeper pool of guys proficient in the offense and hopefully upgrade in multiple areas. I mean, they didn't play this offense last year, it was a stilted and limited set for Milroe.

Honestly, we've hit the OL and RB corps up pretty good, mentioned Ty, wished our WR were more physical...

But the offensive gameplans and Grubb's play calling have been inexplicable at times.

I do wonder if some of the playcalling is dictated by the fact that we can't run the ball, so Grubb takes chances on some situations that he otherwise wouldn't if we had an effective running game? There have been times we were 4th and 1 and ran a wr end around just to gain ONE YARD. Any team that could effectively run the ball the OC would feel a lot more comfortable just handing it off to the RB. But we've struggled so much with running the ball and getting a push on the LOS that he's hesitant, so he tries to compensate with other plays.

Film Guy's take on the Bama loss is interesting, can't link it, he swears a couple of times.

1. The pick 6 was probably illegal touching, but their D was so prepared, they were there early.

2. He confirmed that DeBoer and Grubb watch his channel because they gave Hill the number of carries he said they should give him. lol

3. Too much on Ty's shoulders

4. Offense is easy to defend....can't run....can't pass pro....can't stretch the field consistently. Make them snap it enough and you're going to get them in 3rd and long or get them to turn it over.

5. AND the big one.....questioned their toughness. Basically asked them if they practice hard enough because he knows they've got dudes, but they just aren't tough and they miss too many assignments.
In #1, what do they mean by "illegal touching"? Are they talking about OU hitting our receiver trying to run a slant?

Im not sure why he called it that. I talked to a high school ref friend of mine....he was surprised it wasn't called PI. Said it was close, but it was PI.

That and the guy jumper over the snapper. That rule is in there for the safety of the jumper and the snapper.
