I didn't want to click the link either. My guess would be LSU, but I think we'll have our hands full against VT, Ole Miss, and to a lesser extent Tenn.

Predictably, he picked Ole Miss to beat us by a point. I didn't realize how favorable of a schedule that we had. I think with all the young players that we're breaking in this season, the schedule definitely works in our favor.

At this point, I'm more worried about Virginia Tech than anyone else. They may be as good or better than anyone we play all year. Breaking in a new QB and three OL in that game will be difficult. VT always plays tough defense.

I know I have stated a few times that Ole Miss is a talented team that I would not overlook. I didn't expect them to be as good this past year as they were, but I figured they would win more games than they had in the last few years under the Oger. But for whatever reason, I have a feeling that the Rebs may have a bit of a let down this coming up season. Don't get me wrong, they will still be a bowl team, and a team to certainly keep your eye on in the West. I just don't know how these guys might handle being told how good they are. Keep in mind they lost their starting left tackle, all american defensive tackle, their fastest wide receiver, and they return one of the worst secondaries in the conference. Now they still return J. Snead, D. McCluster, and Greg Hardy. I think they have serviceable depth at RB, but I don't know that they have any absolute game changers. You figure that Massie will step in at left tackle, but like we've discussed on this board, you don't want to have to hang your hat on a rookie left tackle (even if they did go to prep school). Will Jerrel Powe (their version of Kerry Murhpy) step up and fill the void left by P. Jerry????? My gut says no. Powe still has weight/conditioning issues and is currently running with the 2nd team. On a side note, I do like Powe and wish the best for this kid (except against Bama of course :)). Living here in Mississippi, most Rebel fans that I talk too think they are ready to take the next step....West championship, BCS bowl, etc. And I don't get the feeling they would like to "settle" for a Cotton Bowl invite this year. Before its all said and done, I think the Rebs will have an impact on how the West plays out. I don't see them winning the West. I also quite frankly don't quite see them equaling last years success. This of course is just my opinion. Roll Tide Roll!!!!!:BigA:

VT scares me the most. If we can get past them, we have a few weeks for the newcomers to gel and this team could make a run.

I agree, VT will be a tough game. I'm nervous about Ole Miss and LSwho.

11-1 is do able. I don't see anything worse than 9-3.

VT scares me also, but I have faith we will put it out. Should be a defensive battle, but we'll pull through.

Ole Miss scares me some too, but they've got some question marks also... even though they have a good QB... a good QB ain't everything.

Besides those 2, USCe scares me also. If the new OL coach does a great job and Garcia matures...they cold be trouble.

These are the only 3 I think we have a good chance of losing...yet we should be favored in all of them and if our offense can step up and at least match production of last year ...why not run the table again?

I hate to say it, but I agree that (IF we win all our other games) Ol' Miss would be the team to beat us. CHN always has tricks up his sleeve and that game is nearly always a heart-stopper (even though we usually come out on top).

But personally, I don't see us doing as well as 11-1.

VT is more of a worry to me rather than Ole Miss.

VT is always tough but I think Beamer Ball is showing signs of weakening but that is JMO. Ole Miss will be a sturdy opponent, especially if some of their freshmen come in and play well.

My favorite quote was...

[FONT=arial,helvetica,sans-serif]"Alabama caught some breaks last year by facing four head coaches who were on the hot seat and ultimately fired — Tommy Bowden, Phil Fulmer, Sylvester Croom and Tommy Tuberville. Alabama won all four games by convincing margins".

I don't know if I would call them "breaks" I think Alabama was a big reason why they were "ultimately fired" . They were Sabanized.

Vtech, watched them in person last year, they we're awful, if we we lose to them we go 8-5.
I see 10-3 imo for our beloved Tide!:BigA:

Sorry, but your post is awful. :)

Va Tech is going to be a very good football team this year. They should be favored over us in that game. They will have two quarterbacks with a wealth of experience to our group that has no experience. Plus they return a vast majority of their team from last year that got better and finished strong. I have no doubt that our defense will be very good (possibly scary good) and they will keep us in just about every game. But the fact is, Va Tech WILL be one of the 2 or 3 toughest teams that we will face this year. It should be a great game and I'm looking forward to it.

But let's not look ahead. We've got a big one on Saturday. :pDT_jok:

Miami defeated Virginia Tech by the score of 16-14 on Thursday night.

Tech lost to an inexperienced Miami team and looked terrible, Beamer ball isn't what it used to be.
You need to concentrate on LSU and OLE Miss for the 2009 season.:mad2::BigA:

They backed in to the ACC Champ game, as the ACC as a whole we're terrible last year.

Thanks for the vulgar name calling. You can substitute with as many x's as you would like, but it means the same thing in my book. I don't care if Va Tech lost to Miami last year. I know they weren't a great team last year. The fact is they went 10-4 with a fairly young team, won an overrated ACC, and won the Orange Bowl against a decent Cincy team. They have several offensive starters back including QB, RB, most WR's, and most of the OL. Defensively, they have I believe 9 of 11 starters back. They will be seasoned and a year better with almost all "key" positions back and intact. Beamer ball may not be the same, but he's still a great coach and will have a better football team next year. We need to concentrate on how to beat Va Tech because they are the first opponent that we will see and a darn good one at that. Ole Miss and LSU will be worried about at a later date.
