This makes me excited. Playing with passion is one of the very few things I think Saban's "process" misses the boat on. He preaches so hard on pushing the feelings and emotions out and focusing on "the job" that a lot of times our guys play the game void of emotion. Which I think hurts us in the Iron Bowl.
I agree. The barn most always looks like they want it more than we do. At least that’s the impression I’m left with.

Agree to disagree - those kids were punished for something totally out of their control.
You have to have the same rules and follow them for everyone. If he had let them get away with it, others would soon have followed. Handling it like he did taught the lesson and kept order and discipline. It seems like a simple decision to me.
Also, I'm excited to see Freddie back in T-town.

My cousin who has a friend that knows a guy in the field that knows a player that knows Roach has confirmed he is with Alabama.

No... Seriously, He has been spotted on campus and on recruiting trail. Barring last minute changes, he should be announced officially soon. The fact Saban hasn't announced it could mean that there's another coaching changes...

I think the official announcement hasn't come because there is no need for one until after the last signing day, and there could be more changes, movements or reassignments and I'm sure Saban would rather to do that with a single press release. I too am glad to see a home boy on the staff. Clemson's staff has several Clemson alumnus and theirs is about as stable a staff as there is. It's hard to leave a school that's in your blood even if a promotion is available (unless you're last name is Pruitt).

As for the passion thing. That's hard to quantify. Saban is not a ra-ra type of coach. Clearly Gus is all Ra Ra and Barn Luck. But Alabama has played some white hot games in the past, several LSU games, the Clemson Championship game, The 2nd half against Georgia to win the title. Even this season we beat the sausage out of the eventual champions in the 2nd half. So it's not like Saban can't get them to play well. But for whatever reason I don't think they have done that against Auburn. I think they best game they played was possibly the 36-0 blowout in 2008, but that was back when the team had a lot of local kids on it. I do believe our roster of superstars lacks the proper hatred of the Barn. Perhaps that is something Roach can bring to the table. I know if it were me I'd be a seething volcano of hate for the 364 proceeding days. I'd be screaming that crap at them in the weight room as they try to lift. I'd MAKE them hate Auburn.

Man, you hit the nail on the head! I think the key to it is sort of a hybrid of both views. Let’s call it “controlled passion”.

I swear I heard this somewhere but it`s hard to believe and I can`t remember all the barn teams back to `07. Is it true that in his time at Alabama, CNS has yet to beat a barn team that has a winning record going into the Iron Bowl?

They had a winning record when we beat them in 2017, haven't looked at the other dates ... but I'm sure most of those seasons were winning records

No, but he's never beaten a boog team that ended up with 9 or more wins...That's what they hang their collective hats on...
