I originally posted this message as a reply to another thread involving various opinions about the new UA collegiate car tags. However, after reading one of the posts I thought I'd start a new thread which reflects a different emphasis on the discussion.

These funds can help the University look attractive to recruits and keep the current student-athletes in great facilities. This is just one way we can all give back so heed the call Tiders! Man, I sound like an afterschool special?!

Excellent reminder to all of us who have participated in this discussion including myself.

I would prefer that the tags reflect the "original" design if indeed the image on the Alumni Association website is the original concept. I think they would be more striking, would be more noticed in our communities and would perhaps result in more successful fund raising through this program.

However, as with most fund raisers which involve the purchase of an item, our main focus regarding the tags should be supporting a University that we love, not the nuances of the tag itself.

There are so many great things happening at the University including excellent leadership by Dr. Witt, outstanding academic achievements from many students such as the USA Today Academic Team members and beautiful new facilities such as Shelby Hall. These things are complemented on the athletic side by a dedicated, sincere and articulate football coach who represents the University with such character and the facility improvements that cover the spectrum of almost every sport.

In light of these things, the design of a car tag certainly pales in comparison. It is such an exciting time for those of us who love and support the University! Thanks again ToddHSV. Your comments are appropriate and well taken.

BamaMan7, I just wanted to say thanks for the kind words. . .just trying to play my part as an "athletic supporter", well, you know what i mean! ha ha ha
