our Friday "ace" has given up 4 runs in 4 innings. We are down 4-3 in the 4th as NSU has committed four errors. Big Josh Sanders hasn't struck out yet tonight, popped up and reached on a sac bunt (his specialty) when NSU committed an error. Then Dugas struck out. Go figure

Jeremiah Tullidge is pinch hitting for Kelton in the 4th. That's early

Tullidge, the local AISA talent who probably picked Alabama over a host of junior colleges, struck out. Then Reaves lined out. So we had bases loaded with no outs and got nothing.

Top of the 5th, NSU is up 5-3. Demons have 9 hits (and bases are still loaded)

It's bad, man. It's really, really bad.

But don't worry, because everyone says it's going to be just fine.

Can't stop Brandt Hendricks. Can only put him in to get hit by pitch with the bases loaded. 6-5 now bottom 8th.

yes sir! 7-5 BAMA wins. Kennedy had a scoreless 9th for the save. Whitaker 2 1/3 IP in relief for the win

Great job by the pen, and a great job by the guys to scratch out some runs. It ain't ever going to come easy for these guys. Maybe this will help get us started?

Hey, I can hope, right?

This team is going to have to really fight and tonight I think proved that they can do it. Maybe Zona will give them some credit for not tanking it in, or since Zylstra is out they have a spot open for a pitcher, maybe he is interested. Even the almighty Dugas who he claims to be the only talent we have struck out with bases loaded, ( not dogging Dugas) just saying it takes all of them to play together. I think tonight was very positive for the team all around. With Kilcrease on the mound tomorrow hopefully it will be another win, weather permitting.

Lump me in there with Zona. I have done my share of bashing, including tonight. I don't think Adam took a step forward tonight against a team from the Southland Conference, do you? Yes, we scratched out a win, and for that I am grateful, but I did not see anything happen tonight to make me believe that this team can win a single conference series. As you, and many others, have said, it is early. Yes, it IS early, but by the end of next week more than 25% of the year will have already flown by. We should have been more ready than this, unless of course what some have said is true, and that this IS what we are and will be this season.

We didn't look good at all tonight in the time I was there (left after 6). Adam had a really rough 2nd, but settled down till 2 outs in the 6th. Bats seemed to die after we left them loaded in the 4th.

Ugly win, but it's a win. Hopefully it can get us jumpstarted. Cause while it is currently still early, it's getting later with every game and we need to start playing with consistency.

And by the end of next week, we should know whether this team IS the team we're seeing now, or if we're better than this. I'm hoping for the former, but after watching the last couple of games, I'm not keeping my hopes up too much.

I'll give them credit, major credit, for battling back after a devastating injury to a teammate, regardless of how hard he can throw or what-not.

but yeah, there's a major talent dropoff after Dugas. Sounds like Reaves is a very good player as well, and I think Smith is/will be. Beyond that, among position players, I'm not seeing it. But I'll be happy to be proven wrong.

I would love to see you proved wrong as well. Difference is, I think you will be proved wrong.

On a positive note for this team tonight (something that has been lacking so far in this thread), the bullpen pitched a great game. Whitaker started out shaky, throwing 4 strikes to the first 3 batters he faced, but settled down and through 2 1/3 scoreless, and Kennedy came in and pitched well minus hitting the first batter. If Adam could've avoided getting roughed up in the second, this would've been a stellar game for the pitching staff. As it is, maybe this will get the bullpen some confidence that they can get the job done.

Gosh, I almost sensed some positive energy on this board tonite. I'm going to keep cuddling puppies :) Great rally for the tide boys!

.....well reading it from start and then up until about 5 post ago, I was debating about taking a year off from the tidefans.com baseball thread and of my 2000+ posts, 98% have been on this particular board.
