Why do I envision a press conference where a written apology is read by KJ and how he's checking himself into some form of counseling and this was all a big "misunderstanding"? :conf3:

Oh bother, did he not learn anything from the Vick situation?

Criminy! As noted, not illegal in D.R.... but still... These guys oughta' know by now that if (a) they're in the public eye via the pros or TV or whatever; and (b) it involves abuse of a live critter other than fish bait, stay away from it.

If it is legal in that country and part of its culture, then I see nothing wrong with it. There is nothing wrong in what he did, in my eyes. Was he fighting the chicken? No. Did he help in the slaughter of hundreds of chickens? No. It is no different in going to Spain and watching a bull fight, IMO. It's part of the culture. It's what that country does. This has nothing to do with what Vick did. Vick did all those things mentioned above as well as doing something that was illegal.

Was this stupid? Yes.
KJ is a premiere athlete playing in the NFL and everything he does will be in the public eye. Athletes have to keep that in mind and use better judgement.
However, nothing KJ did was illegal. However, this kind of activity will be frowned upon by tons of people.
In my opinion, this isn't even close to anything Mike Vick did and shouldn't even be compared.

Comparing attendance at a legal ....-fight and what Michael Vick did is one helluva stretch.

That ....-fight was gonna happen regardless, Jareem had absolutely no control over it, but Michael Vick had absolute control over those dog fights, matter of fact, he was the kingpin behind them. Plus he personally tortured and executed some of the dogs.

I'll give Kareem a pass on this one, but what the hell was he thinking? :rolleye2:

Isn't that a little extreme? That's a word that's used in the bible and in pulpits nationwide every week. Heck, it's even the part of the name of one of our SEC teams.

I don't see anything wrong with it. He wasn't participating in this at all, He was in a place where this act happens to be legal. It doesn't matter though in today's day and age pro athletes are examined so closely if they sneeze and don't say excuse me they are going to get blasted.

My point was that people in the U.S. have a more civial attitude toward anything related to cruel treatment of animals and for him to post this on his twitter and provide information on the tips he learned while he was there watching this...C'mon MAN

I had a fighting chicken one time. A buddy of mine growing up wasn't from the more well heeled crowd, and his dad used to fight them on occasion. We'd go out to the pen and mess around with them every now and then. So me and my buddy went to one of the trade days or whatever they were called and bought us a chicken each. We fought it one time and won $10. Thank God my parents never knew about any of it. I have no idea what ever happened to that chicken.

So there you have it...I'm a reformed cockfighter myself. I suppose I'll give him a pass.;)

Personally, I couldn't care less about cockfighting. Last I checked, chicken is a prominent part of my diet, so I'm thinking I've been disrespectin' chickens for over 40 years.

Killing chickens in a humane way for food is one thing. Watching cocks rip each other apart for the blood sport is sick.

Tell me what chicken has the better quality of life: One that is part of a mass production for food or a fighting chicken

Go to any chicken house in America, and I'm guessing the term "humane" wouldn't be the first thing you think. And, in full disclosure, I saw this as I'm about to go eat chicken for lunch.
