When the school down the road won or should I say SHARED said Championship it was Alabama Polytechnic Institute. Since officially being named Auburn University in 1960, it hasn't won diddly crap!

I stump Barners all the time with that one. Most of them don't even know the school was once called API. I have a book about the history of southern football and their is a pic the '57 API staff and they are all wearing those knee pants that coaches use to wear and API t-shirts. The API is written in stencil. The book also has a pic of an API team practicing on the beach in Cuba when they played in the Bacardi Bowl in Havana (1940s I think).
