I don't have an opinion on whether she should or should not have been asked to reverse her shirt. They were simply asked to do so to conform with park policy, and they complied. No problem.
If two women want to be together as a couple that's their business. I really don't care.
Now I'm not meaning to offend anyone, but I have a question which the picture (above) brings to light. My question is that if both women are so proud to be together as lesbians, why is it one or both feels the need to dress, and in most respects, look like a man?

Because many lesbians feel very masculine, just like many gay men feel very feminine.

yes, but why would another gay person be attracted to that? if a dude is gay and is naturally attracted to men, why would he ever be attracted to another man that acts and sometimes looks like a woman?

"Marriage Is So Gay" is a slogan that serves what purpose on a shirt?

The "in your face" thing is what I have a problem with. Gays want all the rights and privileges - and that is fine. Why do something that's going to bring attention to their sexual preference?

You wear that t-shirt and expect no reaction? I read the article and when I got to "sensitivity training" I sort of lost interest in their plight. I suspect they knew Dollywood's customer base and this was probably a stunt.

Human sexuality is very multi-faceted. Each of us has so many layers of things we find attractive or unattractive. I would imagine if you're a gay man and you like male genitalia on your partner, but you also are attracted on some level to a measure of feminity, then you'd be attracted to the more fem gay guy. Same goes for the lesbian. If you're a feminine lesbian and like female genitalia on your partner, but also are attracted on some level to "maleness" without the junk, then you go for the more masculine lesbian.

I think it's just a more exaggerated form of what we heterosexuals experience. I'm heterosexual and I like men who are big in stature. I'm not attracted to short, skinny men AT ALL because in my mind that's sort of feminine. But I have female friends who prefer smaller men over larger men because they find large guys too intimidating or whatever.

Different strokes.

It wouldn't bother me; like you I would ignore it. My first thought would be "they're trying to instigate something." Sure enough, they fire off a letter to the management of the park making all these demands. Go figure.

look at 'em. I feel sorry for the real butch gals....they just wanna hump somethin', and in their case, another woman is about the only option they got. Or a Mexican. Or a donkey.

When I worked at Harrahs Entertainment I saw this constantly. There were these gay guys who would go out of their way to instigate confrontations regarding homosexuality then report them to HR which normally would lead to someone getting written up or let go from the company. It was quite a system they had going. It worked too.

Harrahs is a lot like Disney. They go out of their way to cater to the alternative lifestyle groups. Then go out of their way to ensure anyone who is Christian keeps their expression of beliefs out in the parking lot in their car. I was over the accounting, payroll and accounts payable departments. We'd routinely have department heads come into our department from marketing. One of my A/P clerks kept a cross paper weight on her desk with some reference to a scripture in the Bible. Well, she gets a call from HR and was asked to remove it because it "offended" several of the gay people in marketing. She refused and within several weeks a memo from corporate HR comes down to all properties regarding religious symbols being displayed in ones office. We had to remove them. Then a month a later another memo came down which superceded the previous saying it was okay. I had a friend that worked in corporate HR and call her after work to find out what the heck was going on. She said that several gays sent a letter to corporate from our property DEMANDING that they do this. Well, in fear of any bad publicity Harrahs panicked, sent out the original memo to only retract it later when they found out that by them doing that they had exposure to a lawsuit.

People like this want attention and if you give it to them you've fallen into their trap. Ignore them and it burns them up.

Probably wasn't any more offensive than stuff that gets thru the turnstiles every day at Dollywood. T-shirts with Calvin peeing on a Chevy logo or Ford logo. I'm sure they get the monster trucks coming thru the gates with the truck nuts dangling off the trailer hitch.

What is so offensive about the shirt in the first place? Shouldn't marriage be thought of as a happy occasion? :)

Well, I'll just tell you what several gay friends have told me. It's not about the appearance. It's about the EQUIPMENT. Even if a woman looks "butch", she's got the equipment and the temperament of a woman, and THAT'S what the other woman is mainly attracted to. The same holds true for a man. I'm just passing this along...I don't question it, but to understand gay people, you have to ask them. So I did.
