Please remove if this has already been mulled over. Why would any top player like Carson Beck enter the NFL and maybe get life-changing injuries if he can make a wad of money at the college level -- enough for a lifetime if managed carefully? A Lamborghini is not careful. Why go to the pros? Couldn't this affect the quality of Sunday play?

You all probably talked about this weeks ago, I missed the posts, and the idea just dawned on me.

NIL would seem to ensure most guys who aren’t first rd picks or possibly second , will stay in college as long as they can. The top pick in rd 3 is only guaranteed $1.25 M. Beck is probably making more than that for, cough cough, all of his” endorsements.”

We're a long way down the road from us having to look down the barrel of a shotgun for a "booster" supposedly paying a HS player / player's coach. Shoot, said player would probably demand $1mm wired to his offshore account these days just to even talk to a recruiter ... and it could all be above board.

Aside from the NIL deals making this possible and given UGA's recent history with its players' excessive speeding violations, this is a bad look all the way around.
My prediction is that Carson will play in the NFL and when he is finished, he will have spent all his money. Quite a few NFL players end their careers with little more than they began with. It starts with high dollar cars, multiple houses, multiple wives and a Hollywood lifestyle.

NIL money still doesn't match NFL money. The rookie minimum in the NFL is $750k and it goes up from there based on years in the NFL I believe up to like $1million+ or something. So every player in the NFL is making at least $750k in 2024.

You'd have to be good enough to make top tier NIL but not good enough to be an early round draft pick. Not to mention that most of the big money in the NFL is made on your 2nd contract, and if you stay in college an extra year that means you're pushing out the 2nd contract. Plus, its a short career anyway so again hurts net earnings if you spend longer in college.

Some players might stay in college longer because of NIL but really from a financial standpoint it still makes sense to go to the NFL as soon as you can if you're good enough.
