Getting Ready for Spring Battles!

What I've read confirms my earlier post.

DBs had a great day. A few INTs. A true freshman had a Pic6.

Concerning the QBs, Mack struggled more compared to Russell. Russell had his own struggles, but his abilities "flashed" more, which is consistent with what we've heard the entire spring.

This response is not directly responding to you JD, but this reputation is mostly due to the raw statements/communication CNS was noted to have in interviews. What we sometimes fail to remember is CNS was a unicorn in how he used the media to communicate to the players and fan base. NOBODY has ever been able to do what he did. Many have tried to mimic his style, but they always fall way short.

So CKD is rightly being true to himself. But I also think CKD has started to give us more. For instance, after Grubb surprisingly announced Jackson Loyd as already winning the starting role after about 3 practices, CKD pushed back to cautiously warn that no job is secure without continual improvement.

The complaining and comparison to CNS has reached unbelievable highs. For instance, on another site, someone yesterday complained about CKD not looking at Josh Pate directly in the eyes when he gave some of his answers to Pate's questions.

I think it was just as bad when Ray Perkins replaced Coach Bryant, but we didn't have 24 hour football boards and social media to make it so obvious.

IMO, what would have been the very worse thing Alabama could have done is hire a guy who tries to be like CNS, because there is no one like him.

True, but CKD is the head coach of the most visible program in the country. Its really not that hard to develop some professional coachspeak without all the you knows sometimes, incomplete sentences.

"We had a good day of practice today, high energy from a lot our leaders out there today. We need our support players to take a step forward to improve and challenge our starters. We are continuing to advance the degree of difficulty for the offense and the defense. It look like the defense won this session. All the guys need to embrace this and keep improving. None of our QBs have lead our team in a live game. We are getting them ready to do that and they are growing in their command of the offense everyday."

Take 5m to know what you are going to say before you say it. It ain't that hard.

Then reporters will want specifics about certain players. You give an inch, they will take a mile, and DeBoer is not going to chew butts off frames like Saban did.

I don’t think this quote is reassuring for the offensive line. I know it’s spring ball, and maybe I’m just scarred from years past-

It'll take some time for Mack and Russell to gel with the front five, and it seems like that showed on Friday.

Spring ball on the plains-

Alex Golesh is officially done pretending that every game on the Southeastern Conference schedule holds equal weight. The new Auburn head coach used his inaugural spring camp on the Plains to hardwire a singular obsession into his locker room.

Golesh implemented a dedicated “Iron Bowl period” during practice to force his players to confront their rival head-on. He cranked the stadium speakers and blasted the song “Dixieland Delight” across the practice field to mentally stress his squad. The auditory environment is designed to simulate the hostile road conditions of late November in Tuscaloosa.

The thing is those guys haven’t been here for two years, the guys on the offensive line, so how would they know?

Also, I’m not sure I want them doing the same thing that’s been done the last two years.

It's still early. They've just settled the first and second team OL, as of the 2nd scrimmage. I do think if Will Sanders comes back healthy and 100%, he will take the LG position. All under 320 lbs.

RG - Michael Carroll, 6'6", 318 lbs

C - Racin Delgatty, 6'3", 301 lbs, Cal Poly transfer.

LG - Ethan Fields, 6'3", 319 lbs, Ole Miss transfer.

They're practicing against a very good Bama DL.

On paper, that’s a good looking Oline. The RG and RT is intriguing, as you want your tackles to be athletic and Carroll is one of the more athletic OLinemen we have had the last several years.

Just more proof that the little brother syndrome will never change down on the cow pasture. Their whole season revolves around beating Bama.
