Getting Ready for Spring Battles!

Golesh knows who is buttering the bread... If he can upset us year one it gives him some real breathing room and the ability to snag some control.
Only for the short term. Malzahn still faced questions about his job at AU even after being the most successful AU coach against CNS. As soon as he lost to CNS, the coaching seat got hot again, and the other wins outside of the Alabama game were almost irrelevant.

I had thought Carroll would be at RT, and Mal Waldrep at RG. Mal has looked really good in practice. So I hear.

I'm not negative about Carrolls potential, but I think the only reason he was out at OT was due to the past OL coach not having a clue. I'm not really sure what he was doing last year. I know he was a TF, but there were a LOT of times he just didn't seem to know what the heck he was doing out there, not just call wise, but overall technique in being out in space. Pretty sure Carroll was an IOL in HS, and it showed up on film.

What I've read confirms my earlier post.

DBs had a great day. A few INTs. A true freshman had a Pic6.

Concerning the QBs, Mack struggled more compared to Russell. Russell had his own struggles, but his abilities "flashed" more, which is consistent with what we've heard the entire spring.

I have a feeling, and I hope I'll be wrong, but I think we're going to have struggles at the QB position for the first part of the season. I think the second half we'll be fine because we'll have learned from the growing pains.

I have a feeling if Mack and Russell are really that "neck and neck" in the current race and AM is thought to only have an advantage because he knows the system better that means Russell is hands down the most talented.

And if we are going to struggle early with either, you go with Russell 100% of the time!

That's my view as well. If both are going to struggle, you struggle with the younger, more talented QB.

Golesh will have to deliver something more than just Bama wins for sure... But if he goes for 0/2 in his first two... That seat will be molten lava! He's got a steep curve... I don't think that the bunch he brought with him are anywhere near the equivalent to the core that Indiana got with their guy.
