Celebrating 10 years this summer and I need to start planning our trip. We haven't gone away by ourselves since kids came along 7 years ago, so we're looking to go somewhere we can relax and just have some peace, but also have the opportunity to go be entertained a time or two. No idea what we're doing with our kids while we're gone, but they aren't coming with us. Even before kids, the only place we ever went was Gatlinburg.
I've been thinking about Cape Cod or the West Coast (maybe Lincoln City, Oregon). Any recommendations in those places, or other ideas?

Two suggestions that are tenth anniversary worthy: Charleston and Santa Fe.

Las Vegas gives you a lot of options to be as active, lazy, or crazy as you want be.

Also on Hwy 30-A in Florida is the new boutique hotel, The Pearl in Rosemary Beach. Beautiful! But, it really depends on what kind of things you like to do and what your budget is. If I had no budget, I would go to Cap Juluca in Anguilla or the One&Only Palmilla in Cabo San Lucas.

This was one of my thoughts for the West Coast. Any recommendations as to where to stay, what to do? A quick google search shows Seabrook as a nice coastal town within driving distance.

We actually had a trip to Paris and Lucerne planned, but had to back out due to timing. We may still end up going, but my wife and I both said that there are so many places in the US we haven't seen and maybe we should start here. Two of my favorite places I've travelled to are Interlaken (and surrounding area) and some of the Greek Isles - Samos, Santorini, Rhodes, etc.

Mrs. Reb and I just celebrated our 25th Anniversary in Daytona Beach FL. We got to do the tourist thing for 10 days which also included visiting our granddaughter who is now an adult and living with her boyfriend.

Believe me; there is nothing that makes you feel so old as remembering the child that you used to send off to grade school in the grown woman who now drives you around town in her own car.

Congrats on 25. That's awesome. We're slowly but surely working our way there.
I have come to believe that every moment of being a parent can be terrifying because regardless of what stage they are at, you can't help but think, "How did they grow up so fast?" It just gets worse the older they get. Mine are about to be 7 and 4 and I am continually thinking, "Wait, where did the last two years go? How did they get here?" I look over on the couch and see my 7 year old reading Paddington Bear to my 4 year old and I think, "in another year, I'll wonder where this time went."
I can nearly tear up just thinking about them being adults. But, as much as we want to hang on to every moment, one thing my wife and I have not done a good job of is getting away by ourselves. We went for 6 months without going on a date. I'm devoted to changing that and have done a good job over the last 6 months. But we just don't have anyone to watch our children for us if we want to go anywhere overnight. Blah blah blah.
I'm thinking about Seattle this morning.

That's what I'd to too. Heck, that is what I'm doing. My 20th is next year. I've taken sailing lessons this year and have a 43' catamaran chartered in the British Virgin Islands for next summer.

I attended a conference in Puerto Rico a few years back and it has all that you described. St. Thomas, St John, or any of the British Virgin Islands would be awesome too.

if you go to seattle, be sure to check out elliotts oyster house downtown. we make it a point to go there every time we visit seattle and it is always good. hands down, the best raw oysters and wild salmon i've ever had.

We were in (on?) Cape Cod about three weeks ago and had a great time. That was pretty much the last weekend of "the season" and from what I understand, it's pretty dead there from mid October until the Spring. We spent most of our time in Chatham and Provincetown, but stayed with friends in Orleans. We've visited family in Gold Beach on the Oregon coast. That's a beautiful area with some great artists and a few "artist colonies". Cape Cod was great, but we liked the Oregon Coast better. Better scenery and arts, much less expensive and easier to get around. Plus, if you drive an hour or two into northern California, you can see the redwood forests which are incredible. A couple of hours south of that and you're in wine country, if you like that kind of thing. Happy anniversary.

Yes it is. Are you doing a bareboat or hiring a captain? We're bareboating. We're starting off a little farther towards Beef Island from where Moorings is located, and then just island hopping around Tortola for 10 days. We have 2 other couples going. I've really enjoyed prepping for the trip. About a month ago I took the ASA 103/104 sailing course which was a 1 week, liveaboard class in Pensacola. Fun times.
