While at the University he has been nothing but true class.......

I just read a statement he made to ESPN about the Cam Newton affair in which he said we want to play the Auburn Tigers; NOT the Newton's! Although he did say he was pleased about the way in which Cam handled himself with the flurry of activity about the things being said about him and being able to continue to play football, saturday after saturday without letting this eat him alive.

Greg, remember, whether or not you are wlecomed in the Rhodes Scholar Fold or not; you will continue to be a true Alabama Crimson Tider to the day you die and we will cherish the moments you've given to us while enrolled at THE University of Alabama...............Good Luck!! RTR!:BigA:

Well said. Does anyone know if the UA has ever had any other Rhodes Scholars (non athelete)? Whether he wins or not, I'm more proud of this award than I am of MI winning the Heisman...and I was really proud of MI. This really is the epitome of a student athelete and should be a bigger role model than the likes of someone who cheats and steals but could win the Heisman. (not naming names)

During the game last night they mentioned it had been about 50 years since the last Rhodes Scholar at Alabama. May be a bit out on the number of years.

Greg is certainly worthy of the honor and I do hope he is awarded the Rhodes Scholarship. If for some reason he is not, it will certainly not diminish his accomplishments while at the University of Alabama as a scholar, an athlete, and a winner.

I do hope he has an opportunity to experience a year at Oxford and spend some time travelling around the British Isles and take the Chunnel to France. He's just got to overcome the lack of sunshine for many months of the year accompanied by incessant rain and drizzle that can chill you to the bone and it will be one of the best years of his life.
