When I saw the email from Byrne yesterday, I just rolled my eyes and hit DELETE. I will not not be donating my money to buy some player why has never stepped foot on a field wearing Crimson, and has no loyalty to the team. Now, if a player comes to Bama and excels on the field, I may buy a jersey or shirt with their name on it knowing they will get some kickback from it. To me, that it what NIL should be.
Look, I get it. I played college football in the mid 90's, but not for Bama. Being raised by a single mom, I understand how it feels to try and figure out how to get $20 to last a week. But I never had to want for food, shelter, clothing or transportation. And I got my education paid for. To me, that is part of the college experience. Figuring out how to be an adult. I WISH I'd have had NIL opportunities. I'd have been husting to make every $ I could. These players today are just being handed thousands of dollars and haven't earned a dime!
