Congrats to Brodie, Hall, Prothro, and the O-line for a great performance! Wow tonight reminded me of how sweet it is to go vertical with success!
Even though they had hard times in the first half, they were able to come out and dominate in the second half. Maybe Bama has returned to being a second half team :) . In any case a win is a win baby! 2-0 RTR! -cbm

I like the success we've had passing (though Brodie got hit a few too many times tonight for my liking) but I am really worried about our running attack. We have a potential SEC rushing leader in Darby but we're having a hard time opening the lanes for him. We can't always wait until the 3rd or 4th quarter to get the running game on track. Some teams won't wear down like USM and MTSU did. If we can just find a little more balance on O, we will be very hard to stop.

I'm not too worried about our rushing game. This O-line has stepped up with the pass protection and it's only a matter of time before it finds itself with the running game. With the continued success of our passing attack, the running game is going to open up. I'm alittle worried about the status of our depth at rb. Hopefully Coffee and Johns will be alright, so that KD can have some relief and we don't run him into the ground. -cbm

Here's to hoping the game experience will turn these very green (for the most part) offensive lineman into crimson elephants.
Roll Tide... Love the passing game, but still... Alabama must be effective running the ball b/c there is nothing like cramming the ball down the D's throat and they can't do anything about it. We need to really stress the running game and kicking game in practice.
Missed chip-shot field goals and extra points are going to end up costing us dearly unless we get them fixed and fixed in a hurry...
Go Bama

I wish we'd mix it up a little more. Almost all our passing game is geared towards the sidelines, we rarely throw to the middle of the field. Our running game is pretty predictable too, pretty much straight up the gut.

In the first half of the first two games we've barely broken 50 yards rushing, or have we? Against MTSU and USM!!

I haven't heard anything about Johns shoulder and I understand Coffee was just sick. Combine that with Castille not back to full speed and strength and you have something to worry about, indeed.

However, can't say it wasn't something we've mentioned time and time again as a big concern this season. We have to get this part of our game productive out of the starting gates. A deficit of 21-10 might be something we can overcome with a team like USM, but an SEC opponent?

You truly took the words out of my mouth. I recorded the game and have pretty much watched it twice. Brodie Croyle doesn't even look to the middle of the field. His first instinct is to drop back and chuck it fifty yards like a back yard pick up game. Not only is our running game predictable our playcalling is not far from it.

Oh, I'm sure I'm going to get the ones that say "are you crazy, Brodie puts up 300+ yds passing 2td's and you're still complaining" type people. But TMAC you and me both know know that those numbers don't tell the entire story. When we pass we're either going with the WR screen or a sideline pass. The middle of the field is not even used.

Thank God this was USM first game.

I just don't see...

how the performance of the OL can be characterized as "outstanding" at this juncture, with the number of sacks and holding calls last night. I have seen a little - a couple of individuals have stepped up - to encourage me, but just a little. We have seniors who were being schooled by a CUSA team last night. Granted USM will be at the top of the stats in that conference at the end of the year, but it will because they are in CUSA and not in the SEC...

well, our exhibition season is over, and we are 2 and 0. thats the good news. like others have said, when we take off the rose colored glasses, i am scared to death with our offense. we have gone from a one dimensional running game from last year because of our offensive line to a one dimensional passing game because of our young offensive line. as stated, i dont expect south carolina, and the other sec teams to wilt in the second half for our running game to kick in. i also dont expect them to allow brodie to sit back there and pass deep for yardage. we do have fine receivers, and brodie is moving well, but, the better competition is coming after him, and we know it. usc is looking real good off that georgia game. our defense is going to have to play two halves of inspired ball to win, on the road.
